Dorr Families,
Michigan is one of the leaders in illness outbreaks right now. Dorr Elementary is seeing an influx of Influenza A cases as well as Gastrointestinal Flu. Please review handwashing hygiene with your student. You are our best and first line of defense in combating winter illnesses. If your student is sick, please call the office and report their illness. It is very helpful if you report actual symptoms vs "my child is sick". Knowing specific symptoms help us identify outbreaks and helps our custodial staff to choose the best cleaning aids when cleaning classrooms. Thank you for working with us to ensure our staff and students stay as healthy as possible during the height of the cold and flu season!
Healthy wishes,
Mrs. Seniura
My Child Is Sick. What Do I Do?
The cold and flu season is HERE! . Dorr Elementary is seeing an influx of Influenza A in the classrooms. Please help us stop the spread of these nasty viruses by following these guidelines.
- If you need to call your student in ill, it is helpful if you give a brief list of symptoms, rather than "my student is sick". Reporting symptoms helps us identify possible outbreaks.
- Please keep your student home if they have a fever. Students are welcome to return to school once they are fever free without medication for 24 hours.
- Please keep your student home if they are vomiting or have diarrhea. Students are welcome to return once they are vomit/ diarrhea free without the use of medication for 24 hours.
Dorr Family,
At Dorr Elementary, we continue to recognize students who exhibit our behavior expectations every day. February is Kindness Month, and in addition to celebrating students who are Responsible, Respectful, and Safe, we also want to highlight those who show kindness to others.
There are many ways to spread kindness! I encourage your child to write a kind note to a friend or staff member, help a classmate in need, sit with someone who may be eating alone, or engage in any other random acts of kindness. Small gestures can make a big difference!
Let’s work together to make February a month full of kindness at Dorr Elementary!
Kind Regards,
Ms. Johnson

Outstanding People In Education
Dorr Elementary is lucky to have some of the best staff members around! Why not recognize them by nominating your favorite staff members for the "Outstanding People In Education" award! It's that time of year again, the Allegan County School Board Association is accepting nominations for the "Outstanding People for Education" award! The purpose of this award is to recognize and honor people in education who are excelling in their field and/or are making an impact in the quality of education in Allegan County.
Examples of whom to nominate could include: a teacher, classroom aide, administrator, secretary, board member, volunteer, bus driver, custodian, support staff, social worker, therapist, consultant, community member, or anyone who supports education.
Nominations can come from anyone (students, parents, school staff and community members) and can also be kept anonymous.
The nomination process will look a little different this year, but it will be much simpler. Please click the link or scan the QR code in order to access the Google Form. Nominations are due by Friday, February 28th, 2025.
Lost and Found
It's the time of year that our lost and found areas start to grow! If anything in these pictures look familiar, feel free to come on down and take a look!
In a school of over 300 kiddos, there are bound to be look alike items. You may consider labeling your students items with a sharpie. This will help our staff reunite lost items with their owners!
