Reminders for Thursday's Student-led Conferences
We are excited to welcome families to Student Led Conferences on Thursday, October 10th. Please keep in mind:
Parking in the school lot will be limited - plan to arrive with enough time to navigate this and arrive at your student's classroom by your appointment time. Please note: Parking in Fort Reno Park is prohibited!
Conferences are student-led - make sure your child attends with you!
If you have not already done so, please use the sign-up website and your student's specific "entry code" to make an appointment. The online appointment system will be open through Tuesday (10/8), is available in English and Spanish, and requires an email account. For support signing up for a conference, please contact your student's Advisor.

Ms. Wesselhoft, Geography
Students spent the week brainstorming and planning their Community Action Letters. They are using the knowledge they have gained from analyzing thematic maps of DC and creating community maps and profiles to address an issue within their communities or the city. They began their rough drafts on Friday.
On Monday, they will finish their rough drafts, peer edit, and then begin their final drafts. I will print out the letters for those who are mailing them, and on Wednesday, we will mail them out!
Students have been instructed to bring a letter (#10) envelope and a stamp to class if they are sending a letter to someone other than their local ANC. If they are sending it to an ANC, they will send it by email.
If you would like to contribute to my classroom... here is my Amazon wish list: Wesselhoft Wishlist
Ms. Sagan, Science
Hi scientists!
After completing the Nature of Science/Scientific Method summative last Monday, students spent the rest of the past week investigating tectonic plates.
Next week we will start the week off with our famous plate tectonics lab – the Milky Way Lab! Students are asked to bring in fun-size Milky Way bars to use as a model for Earth. Extras will be distributed to the class as a reward, so if your student cannot eat Milky Ways please send them in with an alternative treat OR I can give them a Jolly Rancher.
On Wednesday we will take our Week 6 roots quiz. We will also spend some time studying for the roots summative, which will be on Tuesday, 10/15. The summative will include all 30 of the root words from this quarter. Please help students remember to study over the long weekend! There are Blooket links posted to Canvas under Modules -> Roots Q1.
Roots – Week 6

Blooket - How to use
Blooket is a fantastic tool that helps students learn the materials in a series of flashcards mini games. I highly recommend that students make an account - they are free and are a fantastic study resource. Once students make an account, they can click on the links in Canvas . Once they click on the assignment, a gray box will pop up, since Canvas cannot host Blooket games. Please tell your children to click the name of the Blooket (above the gray box) to be redirected to the website. Happy Studying!
