March Fire Drill
Leaders of the Pack!
We are celebrating three Leaders of the Pack this week! Here’s what their teachers have to say:
"During the fire drill, Nash noticed a friend shivering, so he took his jacket off and wrapped it around his friend."
"Riley noticed a classmate was feeling sad before school. Riley walked her friend to class, giving her pats on the back and sharing kind and encouraging words as they walked."
"Brooklyn took the initiative to help keep our school beautiful by picking up trash around the track."
Keep up the kindness, kiddos!
Academics + Character = Success
PreK and Kindergarten Round Up for 2024!

The first 200 to complete the full registration will receive a swag bag of Bulldog goodies on Meet the Teacher Night 2024! Registration is completely online on the BCISD website linked under the Parent and Student page.
March Gem of Appreciation!
SGE is proud to recognize Amber Hagen as the March Gem of Appreciation. Ms. Hagen began the year as an Interventionist. However, when our kindergarten enrollment increased to the point of needing to add an additional classroom this past December, Ms. Hagen stepped up in a big way! She volunteered to leave her role as interventionist and open a new kindergarten class in the middle of the school year. Being able to put an experienced teacher AND a familiar face in the new classroom helped make the transition as smooth as possible for our students, our kindergarten team of teachers, and the campus as a whole. Ms. Hagen modeled positivity, professionalism, and a team mentality while prioritizing students' learning and well-being.
SGE Special Story of the Week
As our SGE community knows, this week was the conclusion of the PTO's annual fundraiser, the Adventure Dash Fun Run. All SGE students participated in the Fun Run, but students who raised $300 earned all of the extra bonus bands for access to incentives such as "Slime the teacher" and "Food Fight!" With permission from the parents, we'd like to share a special act of kindness shown this week.
As many will recall, on November 9, 2023, the SGE community lost a young, beautiful, bright light when 2nd grader Alejandro Mireles passed on from a tragic accident. Alejandro made his mark on his teachers while here, and he left behind many friends including fellow 2nd grader, Talan.
Touched by his friendship with Alejandro, Talan ambitiously raised raised $600, enough funds for TWO people. Talan ran the race in Alejandro's memory, and gave the extra set of bands to Alejandro's kindergarten brother, Jackson, who was also able to enjoy the extra incentives included in the Fun Run.
"Remember there's no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end." - Scott Adams
Spring Break is a GREAT Time to READ!
Scottish Rite: Take Time to Read Program
During Texas Public Schools Month, Masons and elementary schools celebrate and encourage reading by asking students to Take Time to Read every day!
Your child will bring home a Take Time to Read calendar for the month of March. Here's how it works:
-Mark the calendar each day your child reads.
-Turn in the Take Time to Read calendar to the classroom teacher by Wednesday, April 3rd.
-Scottish Rite will bring a prize for students who turned in the completed calendar!
It's that easy! We hope you and your kiddos TAKE TIME TO READ!
2nd Grade Swim Lessons!
Burnet CISD, in conjunction with the YMCA, is pleased to offer all 2nd grade students a Safety Around Water and Fundamentals of Swimming program. The lessons teach students about safe behavior around the water and will orient students to the aquatic environment to create a sound foundation for water safety skills.
March 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28 (Axley, Cook, Myers, Scott)
April 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 (Lough, Ochoa, Calhoun, German)
We are asking each student to bring the following items on the
days they are scheduled to attend:
● Swimming Suit (it would be helpful if they wore them under their clothes that morning)
● Towel (please label with students name)
● Bag to carry towel and swimming suit
● Undergarments to put on after swimming
● Large Zip-loc bag to put wet swimsuit in to carry home
● Swimsuit cover / shirt (optional)
If you have questions, please call the front office!

SGE Attendance Tracking
SGE's ADA for this past week was 95.34%!
ADA stands for Average Daily Attendance and is defined as the total days of student attendance divided by the total days of instruction. "98 IS Great!", so 98% is our goal!
Notification of Student Absence
A parent must provide an explanation for any absence within 5 days of the student’s arrival or return to school. The student must submit a note signed by the parent. The campus may accept an email from the parent sent to the school’s attendance clerk, but reserves the right to require a written note. The form below will send an email to SGE's Attendance Clerk and then the campus will determine whether to classify the absence as excused or unexcused.
This information may also be found on the BCISD website:
Viewing Report Cards and Progress Reports
An important piece in the family-school partnership is staying aware of student performance. It is requested that parents view and electronically sign progress reports and report cards. See the directions below, and be sure to get those signatures in! In addition, parents are encouraged to regularly view grades in Skyward.
