DEBATE RESULTS
On Saturday, September 28, the Irondale debate team competed at its first tournament of the season at Eastview High School. The debate topic for the first half of the season is Resolved: The US federal government should make and enforce a binding commitment to achieving net carbon neutrality for the United States by 2050.
Congratulations to these teams, who each placed with a 3-1 record:
Boyana Nikolova (11) and Emerson Nusz (12)
Maleiyah Laney (9) and Psalm Javier (9)
Additionally, Andrea Perez (12) received a 1st place individual speaker award distinction.
AP HONOR ROLL
Irondale High School has been named to the 2024 AP School Honor Roll as a Bronze member. The class of 2024 had 43% of seniors who took at least one AP exam during high school, 32% of seniors scoring a three or higher on at least one AP exam, and 15% of seniors who took five or more AP exams!
ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) EXAMS
The deadline to register for AP exams is TOMORROW, Friday, October 4. Completing the AP exam registration is a two-step process:
1) Parents should log in to SmartSchoolK12 payment system and submit payment for their student(s) exams online
2) AP students need to enroll and join their AP class in their College Board account (Teacher has join code)
Registration is NOT complete and AP exams cannot be ordered unless both steps 1 and 2 above are completed. If you have questions or need additional support with your AP registration, contact us at: aptesting@mvpschools.org.
PICTURE RETAKE - WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9
Picture retake day is Wednesday, October 9. If you missed having your picture taken, please make sure you attend. ALL students, including seniors, should have their picture taken for an updated Student ID.

2. There will be a group interview on Wednesday, October 9, during Knight Time. This will be pretty casual, but please sign up for Mrs. Scardigli's Knight Time (room #116) for this day.
3. We will connect with you the week after MEA if you have been accepted! The first meeting with all new members will be Friday, October 25. More info on that will be shared with those accepted.

IRONDALE NORDIC SKI TEAM IS LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS!!!!
The season runs from mid November - mid February. No previous ski experience is necessary - coaches and other skiers will help you learn to ski!

FREE APPLICATION MONTH FOR MN COLLEGES
NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH WEEK
We are celebrating National School Lunch Week from October 7-16! A few highlights from the week include:
The Minnesota Great Apple Crunch will be held on October 7. A local Gala apple from Rabideaux Farms will be offered at lunch.
Students can show off their photography skills by entering the School Lunch Photo Contest. Submissions are accepted October 7 - 16.
Locally-made Sambusas will be a featured entree choice on October 16. Students will be able to choose from a beef or a lentil Sambusa. Click here to view the online lunch menu.
Sambusas are a traditional Somali staple. Hoyo, the producer of these Sambusas, describes them as "delicious fried pastries certain to transport students and staff to a whole new world of taste" Each Sambusa is hand-made in Bloomington, MN.

CURRICULUM ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Mounds View Public Schools Curriculum Advisory Committee is seeking representatives to serve on the committee for the 2024-25 school year. Committee members work in partnership with the district and community to gain knowledge and provide feedback about curriculum and other instructional issues. 2025 SENIOR ALL KNIGHT PARTY PLANNING MEETING
