Meet your Work-Based Learning Specialists
Rick Bowles and Miranda Kantor have joined the Work-Based Learning (WBL) team in Thompson School District to increase accessibility for TSD students to participate in learning opportunities above and beyond the classroom through WBL experiences in the Pathfinder Program. Work-Based Learning is a continuum of activities that support the development of skills that all students can use to become active and contributing citizens.
Students, Families, Staff, and Community who would like to learn more about the Pathfinder Program, Xello, or other career-connected learning opportunities are encouraged to explore tsd.org/WBL or reach out to Mr. Bowles or Dr. Kantor using the information below.

XELLO WBL OPPORTUNITY SPOTLIGHTS
IT Technical Support Internship - Provide IT Tech Support in your own school!
- Business: TSD Innovative Technology Services, Loveland
- About this internship: Staff a help-desk at your school and assist students and staff with technology issues including hardware, software, inventory, and more!
- Schedule: 1 or more semesters, during 1 class period. Opportunity for more hours during summer.
- Location: At your own high school!
- Pay rate & credits: Unpaid during school year, paid in summer. .5 elective credits per semester.
- Who's Eligible: TSD students only, grades 9-12. No experience necessary!
UCHealth Radiology Internship
- Business: UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies Radiology & Imaging Department
- About this Internship: Research, Present, and Shadow: Interns research radiology modalities (CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, etc), present their findings to radiology staff, and shadow Radiologic Technologists throughout Medical Center of the Rockies
- Pay rate & credits: Unpaid internship. .75 elective credits earned.
- Schedule: Flexible! One presentation and shadow per month - November 2024 - April 2025.
- Who's Eligible: Open to Juniors and Seniors. Must provide your own transportation to MCR. Vaccinations required.
- Deadline to apply in Xello: October 6 ⏰
Nutrition Assistant Internship
- Business: Larimer Food Bank, Loveland
- About this Internship: Assist during Cooking Matter classes with paperwork, set-up and clean-up, assisting participants with cookingy, serve as a Culinary Instructor, help plan classes including recipes, shopping, etc.
- Pay rate & credits: Unpaid internship, can earn elective credit
- Schedule: 10-20 hours per week, hours during Mon-Fri between 8am and 4:30pm, work year-round
- Who's Eligible: Students Age 16+, must provide own transportation, have interest in nutrition, cooking, and education

Social Media Accounts Coordinator Internship
Business: Wanderling in Berthoud
About this Internship: Manage social media accounts, creating content, researching and ptiching ideas, search engine optimization, implement paid advertising campaigns
Pay rate & credits: Unpaid internship, can earn elective credit
Schedule: 10 hours per week, work and meet with owner virtually, , 1 semester or longer
- Who's Eligible: Students Age 16+
Assistant Volunteer Opportunity
Business: KidsPak in Loveland
About this Volunteer Opportunity: Work under the Executive Director to organize mail marketing campaigns, complete data entry of donors and volunteers, and perform various office tasks
Pay rate & credits: Unpaid volunteer opportunity, can earn community service hours
Schedule: 8 hours per month, 1 semester or longer
Who's Eligible: Students Age 14+

Summer Interns Explore Careers and Build Skills!
TCC Construction Students - Summer Internships at IPS
Two TCC Construction Skilled Trades students, Amelia from LHS and Ethan from MVHS, completed summer internships with Independent Plumbing Solutions in Fort Collins. Amelia worked in the office creating social media content, processing estimates and invoices, and performing various office tasks. Ethan worked in the warehouse and the field, preparing parts for plumbers and assisting staff on the remodeling team. Congratulations on your successful internships!
From Intern to Employee - Manufacturing Internship at Fiberlok
Nothing like hearing "you're hired" at the end of a summer internship! Annilene, a recent 2024 graduate from LHS, recently completed a summer internship with Fiberlok where she inspected materials for quality, developed written processes for various steps in their manufacturing process, and enjoyed being part of a system that makes custom uniform patches through Fiberlok's unique process. Anni recently accepted a full-time position with Fiberlok where she'll continue in a quality control role. Congratulations! This internship was made possible through the NOCO Manufacturing Sector Partnership's summer internship program, coordinated by Larimer County Economic & Workforce Development.

Apprentices Earn while they Learn!
HIRED! TCC IT/Cybersecurity Student continues apprenticeship with City of Loveland in new role!
Gwen, a former student in the Thompson Career Campus Information Technology/Cybersecurity Program and 2024 graduate of Mountain View High School, began her IT Technician apprenticeship with the CIty of Loveland's IT Department in spring 2023. She was recently offered a full-time position with their help desk, where she will continue her apprenticeship and provide excellent customer support in IT to City employees. Congratulations Gwen on your new position and to the City of Loveland for gaining a new employee!
HIRED! TSD ITS hires Apprentice for full time position!
Owen, another TCC IT/Cyber program alum, began their IT Technician Apprenticeship with TSD Innovative Technology Services in 2023. They have provided IT support to students and staff throughout TSD and was recently offered a full-time Technician II position. Owen is a 2024 graduate of Loveland High School and valuable member of the TSD ITS team. Did you know that Owen is the 4th apprentice that has been hired from their apprenticeship by TSD ITS? Congratulations Owen and TSD ITS on another successful apprenticeship!
