Summer Scoop: July Updates & Events
As we embrace the warmth and vibrancy of July, we are excited to share an array of engaging events and activities designed to bring joy, connection, and celebration to our community. This month is packed with opportunities to create wonderful memories together, and we can't wait to embark on these adventures with you!
Kicking off the month, we invite you to our Intergenerational Cookout on July 5. This special event promises delightful moments as we gather with family, friends, and community members of all ages to enjoy delicious food, fun games, and heartwarming conversations.
Following that, from July 15-19, we are thrilled to present our Third Annual Cruise Week. Set sail with us as we embark on a virtual journey, exploring different cultures, cuisines, and entertainment from around the world. Each day will be a new destination filled with themed activities and festive experiences that you won't want to miss.
Rounding out the month, we are proud to host our Olympic Celebration from July 30 to August 1. Join us in celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship and friendly competition with a series of fun and engaging Olympic-style games. Whether you're participating or cheering from the sidelines, this event is sure to inspire and uplift our community.
In addition to these highlights, we have several other activities planned to help beat the summer heat. Enjoy refreshing nutrition, cool crafts, and indoor social gatherings designed to keep you comfortable and entertained all month long.

Join Us In July
July 1- Walk Through the Rose Garden- Join us for a "stroll" through the garden, where we will use the beauty and fragrance of flowers to evoke cherished summer memories. Each participant will take home a bouquet of fresh flowers to continue enjoying their beauty.
July 2- Beat the Heath- Staying Healthy this Summer- Learn valuable tips and strategies for staying healthy and safe during the hot summer months. Discover ways to keep cool and maintain your well-being in the summer heat.
July 5- Cookout Round Table Games- Enjoy a variety of outdoor and summer games at our Cookout Round Table. We will have several stations set up with different games for everyone to participate in and enjoy.
July 8- Mature Driver Bingo- Join us for a fun and informative session of Mature Driver Bingo, presented by Danielle Horan from PennDOT. Learn valuable driving tips while playing bingo and winning prizes!
July 22- Crafts: Card Making- Unleash your creativity and join Karen for a delightful card-making session. Design and create beautiful, personalized cards to share with friends and loved ones.
July 25- Healthy Frozen Treats- Cool down with us as we make healthy ice creams and refreshing fruit slushes. Learn how to create delicious, nutritious frozen treats perfect for beating the summer heat.
This month, our Craft Club Afternoon is all about bringing the vibrant beauty of sunflowers into your home with a delightful sunflower wreath!
We'll begin with a 12-inch wire wreath form and transform it using yellow bandanas and brown rope or twine. This hands-on activity will guide you through the process of creating a cheerful and decorative wreath that captures the essence of summer.
Join us for an afternoon of creativity, fun, and camaraderie as we craft these beautiful sunflower wreaths together!

Third Annual Cruise Week!
Get ready for an exciting journey as we embark on our Third Annual Cruise Week from July 15-19! This year, we will be virtually traveling to the diverse and captivating destinations of Singapore, Wales, Finland, South Africa, and Puerto Rico. Each day, we'll explore a different country through immersive YouTube videos, taking in the breathtaking sights and learning about the rich cultures, dances, and foods unique to each location.
Our itinerary includes:
- Creating Our Own Passports: Start your adventure by crafting personalized passports to commemorate our virtual travels.
- Comedian Pat Rocchi Performance: Enjoy a special performance by comedian Pat Rocchi, guaranteed to bring laughter and joy.
- Art Class: Unleash your creativity with an art class inspired by the destinations we visit.
- Safari Bingo: Test your knowledge and have fun with a round of trivia bingo, featuring questions about our travel destinations.
Each day promises new experiences and cultural discoveries, making this Cruise Week a journey to remember. Join us for a week filled with adventure, laughter, and enrichment as we explore the world from the comfort of the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center!

Produce Vouchers
Application are available for pickup at the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center. Must be completed and mailed in. The vouchers will be mailed out to your home this year.
During 2024, we have a monthly meeting of our Advisory Council. This month we had 9 representatives attend our meeting. We have 0 open seats.
In the month of June we discussed the following items:
-Menu for July 16
-Simple Torch of Olympic Game Day
-Senior Day Camp (Camp Lador)
-Holiday and Seasonal Decor
- Casino Day
- Monthly Movie

Join Us For Afternoon Bingo!
Afternoon Bingo will be held on July 3rd Doors open at 1:20 pm, bingo starts at 1:45 pm. We will play 2 hours of bingo, with a 15 minute intermission in the middle. Cost to play is $10. Light refreshments will be provided. Prizes include snack items, nuts, fresh fruits and veggies, and puzzle books.
