2025-26 Academic Calendar
Your input is important as Lewisville ISD considers its academic calendar for the next school year. Please choose your preference between two calendar options by taking a survey by
Monday, Jan. 27.
For more information, please reference the details below. We have highlighted the primary differences in the two calendar options for families and students below:
Key Difference 1: Daily Instructional Minutes
LISD's school day is currently 435 instructional minutes, shorter than many neighboring districts, which limits flexibility.
Option 435 is built on a 435-minute instructional day. This option maintains the 435-minute school day most LISD campuses operate on, the start and end times remain unchanged, and the elementary STEM campuses adjust from 25 extra minutes to 10 extra minutes per day due to curriculum changes that have allowed us to integrate STEM more.
Option 445 is built on a 445 minute instructional day. This option adds 5 minutes to the start and 5 minutes to the end of each school day.
Key Difference 2: Start and End Days
Under Option 435, the first day of school will be Tuesday, August 12, 2025, and the final day will be Friday, May 22, 2026.
Under Option 445, the first day of school will be Wednesday, August 13, 2025 and the final day will be Thursday, May 22, 2026. With this option, Friday, May 23 will be used a bad weather day if necessary.
Key Difference 3: November 4 Election Day
Option 435 provides both students and staff a holiday on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Option 445 will have November 4, 2025 serve as a student holiday, with staff reporting for a remote work day.
Key Difference 4: February PL/Workday
Option 435 provides staff with a Professional Learning day on Monday, February 16, 2026. This would also serve as a holiday for students.
Option 445 provides staff with a Teacher Workday on Friday, February 13, 2026, plus a holiday on Monday, February 16, 2026. Both of these days would serve as holidays for students.
LISD Board Meeting Recap

🚸 Student Safety 🚸
Ensuring the safety of our students is always our top priority at Lakeview Middle School. We are aware of an incident last week involving a vehicle that failed to yield to students crossing the street. This serves as a reminder for us all to remain vigilant. Please note that the intersections at Keys and Keyland and Keys and N. Colony will continue to have dedicated crossing guards. We encourage all students to use these designated crosswalks for their safety.
We also ask families to have important safety conversations with their students as we navigate these changes. Additionally, we urge everyone in our community to stay mindful of speed limits, especially in school zones, and practice road safety to help protect our children.
Thank you for partnering with Lakeview to keep our community safe everyone!

Academic UIL
32nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Awards
The Recognize SomeONE program gives community members the opportunity to highlight the exceptional work of our staff here at LISD. We believe that supporting our staff is critical to creating an encouraging culture where teachers and administrators feel valued and respected
The LISD Board of Trustees unanimously adopted the following advocacy priority for the
89th Legislative Session:
"to increase the basic allotment, to supplement - not supplant - state funding with local or federal dollars; and to update the school finance system to include enrollment-based funding; adjustments for inflation, student education, teacher compensation, and other costs outside of district control; consideration of regional cost differences; and accurate funding weights."
The education of our students is a partnership between LISD and the communities we serve. Advocate for our future generations by becoming well-versed in LISD's Legislative Priorities. Use the resources linked below to find your voice.
