Early Action, Early Decision, and Priority application deadlines are important and mandatory for your Common App and sometimes the SRAR (Self Reported Academic Record - if required) They must be sent by the posted deadline which is most commonly November 1st. In addition, Nov. 15 and Dec. 1 are also common early deadlines. Be sure to check the list of Application Requirements listed on each college's Undergraduate Admissions websites to confirm the correct application deadline.

If you choose to send SAT or ACT test scores, you should go to your SAT and ACT web account and click "Send my test scores" and follow the instructions. You may also self-report your test scores on the Common Application. Again, check the respective admissions requirements for your colleges to see if they require "official test score reports". We do not send your test scores.

Applying to multiple colleges can be expensive. Many schools will waive your application fee if you simply ask! Be sure to check out the "How to Apply" page of each college before submitting your application fee or email your admissions representative and request a waiver. Some schools will offer Free Application Weeks and waive the fee for all students during specific weeks. For example: Beginning Monday, October 24th and ending Sunday, November 6th, students can apply to up to five SUNY (State University of New York) campuses with no application fee! This includes all 64 SUNY campuses, no matter which application vehicle the student uses. Students can get details here: www.suny.edu/apply

What you need to know about requesting first quarter or mid year grade reports:

First Quarter Grades

• First quarter grades for seniors may be sent to colleges by request. We do not send any grades automatically.
• A First Quarter Grade snapshot will be taken on November 14 and not at any later date.
• Many colleges do not require first quarter grades and it is the student's responsibility to determine whether or not they are needed by checking the admission requirements on the respective college admission websites
• To request grades, complete the First Quarter Grade Request Form (see the link below) and turn in to the Counseling Office by Friday, November 11 . The reports will be sent to college admission offices on or after November 15.
• You may submit a request after Nov. 11 to be sent at a later date but it will still be the Nov. 14 snapshot

Mid Year Grades

• Mid year grades are a more standard requirement for Regular Decision college admission plans, and are handled at the end of the semester in mid January
• Reports will be available by request in early February
• These grades must be requested in the same manner and more information will be sent in January

GSK’s Apprentice Program is a 2-4-year long program that provides students with the opportunity to jumpstart their career while pursuing a college education. During their program, our apprentices receive a combination of paid on-the-job training while studying towards their associates degree, fully-funded, at GSK’s partnering college.

Many colleges will automatically consider students for merit scholarships (based on academics) during the application process. But there are 2 other methods that is worth your time to find scholarship money.

1. Apply for local and private scholarships advertised to our community by checking our Harriton Google Doc, which is updated regularly with scholarships sent to our department.
   
   
2. Use a scholarship search engine to discover scholarships you may qualify for. Check out the handout linked below for a list of reputable search engines
   

College application deadlines continue through November through February and even later! Another waive of Early Action and Early Decision will be due on November 15 and December 1. In addition, many opportunities for Early Decision II will be available in January.

Daily through December 1

Did you know that 160 colleges have signed up to visit with Harriton students this fall? Admissions Representatives have been and will continue visiting throughout the fall to answer questions about the application process and introduce you to new programs at their school. Be sure to register to attend sessions to learn more about various colleges! Attending visits are a great way to demonstrate your interest in a college and get to know your Admissions Representative.
