Principal's Message
Dear, Viking Families,
Thank you for your continued cooperation in using the Viking Drop-Off Zone. We want to remind you that this area closes promptly at 7:40 a.m. each day, so please ensure that your child is dropped off by this time to avoid any disruptions to the morning routine.
Additionally, we’re happy to offer a warm breakfast for students starting at 7:25 a.m. and ending at 7:40 a.m. each day, providing a nutritious start to their day.
As we step into November, we are excited about the opportunities for growth and learning, especially as we approach our Fall Parent Teacher Conferences the week of November 18th through the 22nd. Please be sure to connect with your child's teacher to schedule a time to attend and learn more about your child's progress.
A few important reminders:
- Monday, November 11th is a holiday, and there will be no school that day.
- The week of November 18th-22nd will be minimum days, with student dismissal at 12:15 PM.
- The following week, November 25th-29th, there will be no school in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at conferences!
With Warm Regards,
Mrs. Ashton and Ms. Luong

Federal Impact Survey: If you have not yet, please complete this short survey to increase funding opportunities for SDUSD students. The information is collected to support Federal Impact Aid funding and is kept confidential. At your next opportunity, we ask you to please sign-in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and complete the short survey, following the steps below:
Select Forms from the left-hand navigation menu, then select 2024-25 Impact Aid Program Survey Form under Annual Forms. See attached flyer for instructions as well. Impact Aid_2024-25_flyer.pdf
Follow the prompts and submit the form. Please be sure a confirmation appears before logging off.
If you need assistance, or do not yet have a Parent Portal account, please contact, Ms. Lovell at clovell@sandi.net or Mrs. Hayden at thayden@sandi.net. Visit the District’s support website for more information.
For parents using the PowerSchool mobile app, you can submit the survey using the app.
Reminder: Instruction starts at 7:45 a.m. Please ensure your children are on campus by 7:40 a.m. in order for them to have enough time to walk to their classroom and be ready to start their learning at 7:45 a.m. If students are arriving to school after 7:45 a.m. they will be marked tardy. Counselor's Update
Hello Ericson Families,
Happy November! Our wonderful students kicked off the month by working extra hard during their counseling lessons. Kindergartners continued their learning of feelings by practicing how to identify how someone is feeling. 1st grade students earned a special Kahoot quiz because of their hard work in our previous lessons. 2nd graders read "I am Jane Goodall" and had a discussion on careers. Last week only half of 3rd grade had a lesson because of a situation Mr. Z was handling, so this week some classes will talk about managing stress and pressure while the others do a fun activity. 4th graders learned how to respond with compassion aka empathy in action. 5th grade students practiced having healthy disagreements and being respectful despite not agreeing on something.
Next week is our Bullying Prevention and Red Ribbon Spirit Week. Please see the attached flyer for more information about each days spirit wear. We will be highlighting making good choices all week at Ericson!
Sincerely,
Mr. Z
