Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Year 10:
Addison 10SI, Kasper 10CA, William 10TU, Mia 10TA, Lana 10SI, Rupa 10CA, Sian 10TU and Alex 10CU.
Subject Highlights:
Each week will focus on a department within the school and share their nominations with you. This week our Science team will be sharing their nominations with you.
Miss Rasmussen has nominated 10a3 who have shown fantastic work and engagement in recent practical's testing for positive and negative ions.
In Year 11, Kacper has been thinking really hard about big science ideas and came up with some amazing questions. Year 13 student Tanaka has been working extremely hard in application of Biology and Remi and Abigail have been working together and showing great support of each other.
In Year 10 Aleksa completed some amazing work on empirical formulas last week - well done!
Ms Jaiyeola has nominated Year 10 students Jennifer H and Sarah D for their consistent hard work and effort. Also nominated are Year 9 students Lucas H, Isabelle C, Ruby U for consistent effort and exemplary achievement in lesson, Bronwyn and Danica are also nominated for great improvement in their work and focus in class.
Finally, well done to Year 8 students Alisha G, Sebastian and Hanni for excellent work and positive contributions in class, all are excellent in their assigned tasks.
Mr Godfrey has nominated Year 12 students Melissa and Amelia for excellent preparation ahead of their assessments and for their excellent scores.
Mr Anglim has nominated 10AC2, for a proactive and serious effort to revise for the Science mocks that have are happening. The separate science groups 10B3 and 10C3 have also made a tremendous effort towards their Physics mock which is great to see.
9AY have continued to show a great attitude in every Science lesson this term. In particular, showing great precision in plotting motion graphs.
Miss Kritzinger has nominated Year 10 students Jordan C, Kian W and Ronan C for excellent work in Science this week, also nominated are Year 10 students Kaitlyn, Klaudia, Maya, Laila and Kade who have shown dedication and hard work preparing for their Science mocks.
Mrs Gill has nominated Year 10 student Milly for fantastic work during the reacting masses lesson. Milly now has an excellent handle on multi step calculations.
Mr Abnett has nominated Year 13 applied scientists who have recently had their coursework moderated. Well done for their excellent effort over the last 2 years. All of them should be proud of what they have accomplished.
Also nominated are 10B3 and 10C3 Chemists have been fantastic recently during the sequence of practical experiments within the testing for ions topic especially Deliana, Tia, Leyton S and Jayden F.
Miss Patterson has nominated Year 10 students Sebastian for showing ambition, working sensibly on revision material and Mason for being proactive with exam revision for Biology!
Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award:
This week students have completed their Bronze expedition. All teams reached their checkpoints successfully, although there was some detours along the way, the group were fantastic ambassadors for our school, well done!
Curriculum Focus:
Each week we will share with you what our students are learning in our focus departments this term, below you will find the topics for KS5 Maths along with some questions to ask your child.
Year 12:
In Year 12, students have been consolidating their knowledge of pure mathematics, statistics and mechanics before completing their end-of-year mock assessments. They have also begun studying Year 13 content, including algebraic division and writing expressions using partial fractions.
Questions:
- What is a null hypothesis? What is an alternative hypothesis?
- What is the modulus function?
- Sketch the graph of y=Ix+1I -2
Year 13:
Year 13 have been working hard in preparation for their A-level examinations. In recent lessons, they have worked on hypothesis testing with the normal and binomial distributions.
Reminders:
- Year 10 mock exams will continue next week.
- On Thursday 20th June there will be an information evening regarding the PGL trips, this will begin at 5.00pm.
