The Mission of Chugiak High School: Inspire Students. Excel Academically. Strengthen Community.
Dear Parent or Guardian,
Each year, students in English learner programs take the ACCESS for ELLs language proficiency test. The test measures academic English language proficiency for students learning English in our school and throughout our state. We will be taking the test here at CHS February 11th and 12th.
Teachers in our school use this information to help them make decisions about instruction for your child. Teachers also use these test scores to monitor the progress your child makes toward English proficiency.
Please contact Mrs. Duft ELL teacher if you have questions about the ACCESS for ELLs test.

ATTENTION: PARENTS & STUDENT DRIVERS
Busses Have the Right of Way
Please yield to school busses during morning drop-off and afternoon departure. With the new school start times, our bus drivers have elementary routes before our Chugiak student routes, and middle school routes directly after. In order to stay on schedule, it is imperative that route disruptions are minimized.
Again, please give priority to busses while on school grounds for the safety of our CHS community and consideration of elementary and middle school students.
Welcome back and Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Andrew Baalerud, M.Ed.

- 5th tardy: 1 lunch detention
- 9th tardy: 2 lunch detentions and Attendance Contract (signed by parents)
- 12th tardy: Extended Day Detention - Thursday 3:15-5:15 (parent notification)
- 15th tardy: Referral to Student Services Team and Parent Meeting
