Cozine Climber Updates - August 5
A Note From Cozine:
Hi Climber Families!
We are so excited to welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year! Below, you will find some important information to help the first days of school go smoothly!
By now, you should have received a post card with your child's classroom assignment. If you have not received your card yet, that means that you are missing some of your registration information and you need to contact the office ASAP. Your student will not be assigned a classroom teacher until your registration information is complete.
Please note: School begins at 8:55am. Our student entry gates will close at 8:55am this school year.
We can't wait to see everyone!
In Kindness,
Ms. Jodi Notch, Mrs. Lisa Dalton, and Ms. Tamara Martinezjunco
NEW INFORMATION
Meet and Greet
Please join us on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm for an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, tour the school and classroom, and see some of the programs we offer at Cozine. This Meet and Greet will be an open structure where you can come any time between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm to visit our school and meet the staff. We will also be serving snacks during the event.
Open House
Mark your calendar for our Open House on Thursday, August 29 from 5:00-6:30pm. This will be an opportunity for your child to show you the work they have been doing in school and for you to ask questions to teachers on campus.
Arrival and Dismissal
ARRIVAL:
School begins on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 8:55 am. Campus arrival time is 8:45 am. Students arriving to campus will enter at the double gates to the right of the school building. We ask that parents drop students off at the gate to alleviate congestion at the MP room doors. Students will enter the MP room and be served breakfast. We will have plenty of staff members at the gates and throughout the school to help your children find their classrooms.
Any students who arrive to their classroom after 9:00am are marked tardy. Please consider this when dropping your student off as it takes them time to walk through the breakfast line and get to their classrooms. We are setting a goal to reduce absences and tardies this year, so let's start the year with the habit of being on time.
DISMISSAL:
Dismissal is at 3:11 pm.
For dismissal this year, please pick your students up at the following locations:
Kindergarten - on the Kindergarten playground
1st-3rd Grade - in the back of the building near the pod doors
4th Grade - near the primary playground
5th Grade - near the intermediate playground
The gates will open for parents at 3:11 pm, and you can walk to the above outlined locations to meet your child’s class for pick-up. Playgrounds are closed for use before and after school. Please note: middle school students who are picking up siblings are not permitted at school before 3:11 and if they are on campus, they will be required to sit on the wall until the dismissal bell rings.
Students must go home by the 3:11 dismissal bell unless they are involved in an approved after-school program. Since safety is foremost in our minds, we ask for your help only allowing your student on campus during school hours as there isn’t supervision before 8:45 am and after 3:11 pm.
For your convenience, Safekey is available at our site. If you would like more information regarding Safekey, call 702-633-1608.
Parking at Cozine
Cozine has a small parking lot, and our lot is closed off to general traffic to keep our students safe as they walk to school. CCSD employees, school buses, and anyone holding a valid Handicapped Pass are permitted into our parking lot. Please see Cozine duty personnel if you fall into this category and need to enter the lot.
Also, to keep traffic patterns predictable for students that do walk, we allow traffic to enter our parking lot at the north entrance and exit through the south exit. Our staff enforces this to keep everyone safe, and we appreciate you helping them with this by following this pattern.
Restaurant Fundraiser Nights
Thank you for supporting Cozine during our restaurant night fundraisers! We love to see everyone out enjoying dinner or a treat while supporting the school! This money helps us support student involvement programs such as sports, cheerleading, and our garden club.
Please mark your calendars for our upcoming Restaurant Nights:
- Friday, August 16, 3:30-8:30pm - U-Swirl at 6592 N Decatur Blvd.
We look forward to more fun restaurant nights this school year!
Year-At-A-Glance
House Spirit Days
We have monthly House Spirit Days and have moved those days to THURSDAYS this year! Students are encouraged to dress in their house spirit colors for these days! Students new to Cozine will be assigned their house before Friday, August 23. All returning Climbers will stay in the same house.
Our houses are as follows:
Humanitas - House of Kindness (Green)
Salutem - House of Safety (Red)
Veritas - House of Honesty (Blue)
Eruditio - House of Scholarship (Yellow)
Our first House Spirit Day is:
Thursday, September 5
Let's go all out and show our HOUSE SPIRIT!
Cell Phones and Smart Watches
At Cozine, students are required to keep their personal communication devices off and in their backpacks during instructional hours. Students are permitted to use their phones before and after school. This aligns with District policy that helps prevent bullying, cyber bullying, unfiltered internet access, and cheating. If you have questions about this policy, please reach out to the office or school administration. At this time, we will not be using the signal blocking cell phone pouches at Cozine ES.
CCSD Back to School Guide
The Clark County School District (CCSD) 2024-2025 Back to School Guide is now available online to families. To help prepare for the upcoming school year, the District encourages all students and their families to read the Guide, which is available online at ccsd.net/district/backtoschool.
The Guide provides parents/guardians with resources and information about registration, important new school safety initiatives, meals, transportation, parent/guardian resources, and graduation requirements.
