Message from the Principal
JAJHS Families,
I hope you and your family are enjoying the cooler temperatures this week. We’ve had a fun Spirit Week around the building as we celebrate being Pioneers during Homecoming Week!
As a reminder, there is no school this Monday, October 14th. I hope your student enjoys their three-day weekend!
As we are heading into the final weeks of the 1st quarter, please continue to check-in on Canvas to view your students’ grades and progress. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your student’s teachers.
Please take time to review the important information below in our newsletter.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Ryan Malany

Picture Retake Day
School pictures were sent home with students this week. Even if you did not order pictures already, you are still able to order online at shop.hrimaging.com.
If you missed the original picture day or are unsatisfied with your first photo, Picture Retake Day is next Wednesday, October 16th! Please bring your original pictures with you if you plan to have retakes done.
Annual JAJHS Pumpkin Drop - Pumpkins Still Needed!
We are eagerly preparing for the annual JAJHS Pumpkin Drop at the end of October. We are again partnering with AEP Ohio for this fun and memorable event for our students. During Advisory, students will be collaborating together to design and decorate a pumpkin to represent their advisory. Pumpkins will be judged in a number of categories. The culminating event will include AEP Ohio dropping the pumpkins from their largest bucket truck in Central Ohio!
We need your help, please! If you are able to donate a pumpkin or two, please sign up here. Donated medium to large pumpkins should be dropped off in the JAJHS no later than the end of the day on Thursday, 10/17. Thank you for your help!
Power of the Pen
Attention, all JAJHS aspiring authors! Are you ready to unleash your creativity? Join us for tryouts for the Power of the Pen team on October 22 and 24 from 2:30 to 4:00 PM in room 8. You can attend one or both sessions. At each tryout, you'll write a story and committee members will select 6 seventh graders and 6 eighth graders to form the team.
After team announcements have been made, we’ll practice once a week after school and arrangements can be made with fall and winter sports. Power of the Pen is not only a fun after-school activity but also an awesome way to enhance your writing skills in a supportive community. Plus, snacks will be provided! Sign up at: BIT.LY/JAJHSPOP Don’t miss this chance to make your words matter!
Parent Teacher Conferences
The Junior High will be holding in-person conferences on Monday, November 4th and Wednesday, November 6th. There will be a combination of teacher requested and parent requested conferences. If your child's teachers are interested in meeting as a team to discuss your child's progress, you will receive an email. If you do not receive a request to set up a team meeting, you are still able to schedule a meeting with your student’s teacher(s). These scheduled conferences will be ten minutes long and with individual teachers. This means that if you would like to meet with each of your student’s teachers, you must schedule multiple individual conferences. Please look for more information about this the week of October 18th.
Veterans Day - JAJHS Wall of Honor
Each year, the Junior High strives to recognize the service of JAJHS family members by creating a “Wall of Honor” as a part of our Veterans’ Day activities. If a member of your family is a veteran or in active service and you would like them to be recognized on this day, please complete this Google Form. If you would like to submit a photo of your family member(s) please email it to Megan Brar at brarme@japioneers.org. We are excited and honored to pay our respects to those who serve or have served our country!

Medications at School
Sometimes parents ask that school personnel administer medication to their child during the school day. When this is necessary, we require written permission and instructions from the parent and in some instances from the doctor. The required form must be completed and turned in to the junior high office with the medication to be administered.
