Dear Father Doyle Families,

Happy Feast of St. Luke the Evangelist! Today the Church celebrates the author of both the Acts of the Apostles and the Gospel of Luke which singularly contains the Magnificat, the beautiful words of the Blessed Mother which begin:

"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant."

My we all seek to live our lives in a way that proclaims the greatness of the Lord!

Our Parish's giant 67th Annual Snowflake Bazaar is this Saturday and Sunday in the Parish Hall! Come and enjoy the great Food, handmade crafts, home baked goods, basket and cash Raffles, children’s activities, cow chip bingo and Santa! All proceeds go to support our Parish.

For decades, our school has participated in the Bazaar, by having the students make Christmas ornaments to be sold at the Bazaar. Every student in our school in Grades Pre-K to 8 has hand decorated a wooden star ornament approx. 5” tall, which has their name and the year it was made on it. Parents can purchase their own child's ornament for $5 at the Bazaar in the Parish Hall, on Saturday October 19, from 9am to 4pm. You can also arrange for a friend to pick them up as well. Any ornaments remaining after Saturday will be sold to the general public at the Bazaar Sunday from 8am to 1pm, and whatever doesn't sell Sunday will be donated to Soldiers’ Angels, which ships hand made ornaments and other Christmas gifts to deployed service members and veterans serving overseas. We hope to see you this week at the Bazaar!

Newly Announced Programs and Events:

Students in grades pre-kindergarten and kindergarten are invited to attend a Music and Movement Program with Mrs. Edwards! The program will begin in November, more details below.
If you did not order a 2023-2024 Yearbook but would be interested in purchasing one, we have a limited amount of last year’s yearbooks for sale. Yearbooks are $40. If you are interested, please email Mrs. Marra at jennmarra@fjvd.org to check availability.

Join the Art Club with Ms. Arruda! Starting October 21st! See below for details and registration link. Open to students in grades 3-5.
Coach Ed Correia is staring a Little Saints Instructional Basketball Program for students in grades 1-3! See below for details and registration. The first session will be held October 24th.
Boys in Grades 4-6 are encouraged to register for the upcoming CAL Basketball season. Registration is due no later than October 18th. See below for link and details.
Our annual Spooktacular Trunk or Treat will be held on Saturday, October 26th from 5:30-6:30. More details are included below.

Save the Date: The next FJVD School Board Open Session is scheduled for Tuesday, October 29th at 6:30pm. Attendees must RSVP at the link here. Please note that Open Sessions are designed to provide an opportunity for families to share specific thoughts, ideas, or concerns with the board. The School Board does not provide a formal presentation for Open Sessions.

Music and Movement with Mrs. Edwards

Join Mrs. Edwards in exploring music, different instruments, dancing, and maybe even a musical craft. This program will run on Tuesdays starting in November for five weeks from 2:30 - 3:30 and is open to pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students.

Music and Movement Registration

Art Club with Ms. Arruda - Starts October 21st!

Students in grades 3-5 will create mixed media art projects and learn different art techniques over this unique six-week course. At the end of the course, students will have a portfolio to share with their families. Space is limited, so please register soon!

Dates: October 21, 28, November 4, 18, 25 & December 2

Time: 2:30 - 3:30

Little Saints Instructional Basketball Program

All students in grades 1-3 are invited to join Coach Ed Correia for an instructional basketball program beginning Thursday, October 24th. No experience required, come learn about the game of basketball and build teamwork skills in a fun, encouraging environment!

When: Thursday October 24th, 31st, November 7th, 14, 21,

Time: 2:30 - 3:30

Cost: $50

CAL Basketball Registration - Boys Grades 4-6

We're excited to host another season of CAL Basketball for boys in Grades 4-6. All interested players are invited to join the team - no previous experience necessary.

The Annual FJVD Spooktacular

Our Annual Spooktacular is coming up on October 26th from 5:30pm - 6:30pm!

We are looking for families to decorate their trunk and hand out candy! Don’t want to decorate, but willing to donate candy? Please bring in candy by October 23rd! Everyone is welcome to join us on October 26th to Trick or Treat and enjoy the sights! We will have our Middle School decorated pumpkins on display.
