SGS Weekly Update
December 14, 2024
A Message From the Heads of School
We are ready to light the Rose candle for the third week of Advent,
awaiting the Birth of our Savior.
The figures in our Nativity set are moving closer to the manger:
Mary and Joseph from Nazareth,
Three Kings from the East,
and Shepherds abiding in the fields.
Our Christmas Concert and Culture Night Feast
was truly delightful!
A great big thank you to all of you who so generously
contributed food and supplies for the enjoyment of all.
We had dishes representing
Ireland, India, Jamaica, Poland, Germany, Quebec, Spain, and America.
Thank you, also, for being so understanding about the change in date and time
due to the surprise snow day.
Newport Trip
Grades 7 and 8 went to Newport, RI!
They toured the mansions, had a great lunch, and enjoyed spending time together.
St. Nicholas Shoppe Update
The annual St. Nicholas Shoppe brought joy to all!
The highlight of the Shoppe, the Donation Station, made it possible to donate to a worthy charity in a loved one's name!
The charities chosen by our middle schoolers this year and the donations made are:
- Water for South Sudan, $109
- World Wildlife Fund, $53
- International Rescue Committee, $8
- Innocence Project, $57
- Catholic Relief Services, $72
The total raised for the Green Team from the sale of raffle tickets and merchandise is $529.50.
Stay tuned for updates on the use of these funds!
Hail and Farewell
As we say goodbye to Mr. Theriault and wish him well in his new position, we are pleased to announce that Miss Stefania Schuler has joined our faculty. She will be the Math and Science teacher for grades 5 through 8.
Miss Schuler is a UConn Honors graduate with a BS in Physics and minors in Astrophysics and Math.
Welcome aboard!
