PTA NEWS
Let’s get earning! We are trying to revive our efforts for this fundraising opportunity for the school. Many may remember collecting the boxtops and sending them into the school; the process has now been digitalized through an app. During the month of October when new users use the Box Tops for Education referral code (X3ER9JC8), the school will get a bonus of $10 upon signing up and scanning your first receipt. This is a simple way to kickstart our participation in this program and support our amazing school!
Math News from Mrs. Jividen
Problem solving and critical thinking are skills that kids continue to develop throughout their education. You can help support these skills at home by including your child in activities that make them think about how to solve a problem. Here are some simple examples:
Encourage your child to figure out answers to real-life situations: “We have one can of tuna and we need five. How many more do we need to buy?”
Ask questions that involve equal sharing. For example, “Seven children share 49 baseball cards. How many cards does each child get?”
Ask your child to help bake cookies and determine how much of each ingredient is needed if you need to double the recipe? What if you needed half of the recipe?
Help your child look up the population and land area of the state and city in which you live and compare these facts with those of other states and cities
- Visit the website for the U.S. Census Bureau and have your child write down three interesting pieces of information that they learned
