End of 1st Marking Period
Reminders about monitoring grades in real time and automatic notifications through Parent Portal
Monitoring grades - We highly recommend that families use the Parent Portal to monitor grades and sign up for automatic email updates in the Email Notification tab. You can also look through individual course and assignment updates by using your child's Schoology account and accessing each Class and Assignment.
Making up work – All students have three Academic Care Periods (extended homerooms) on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This is an ideal flexible time to work with any staff member in the building. Teachers have until noon Friday to grade and update any missed work or tests to improve failing grades before the ineligibility report is generated. Turning assignments in on time is the best way to keep grades up-to-date.
Pink Football Game - Wednesday 11/6, Unite for Her
On Wednesday, November 6th, Fugett Football will take on Peirce under the lights at Henderson High School. 7th grade plays at 6pm with the 8th grade to follow. This game was a long standing Fugett tradition and we are excited to bring it back this year. Show your Fugett spirit for this year’s Pink game by wearing pink to school on Wednesday and plan to attend the game to cheer on Fugett football to a win!
Care Clubs - Quarter 2 Clubs Start This Week
Q1 CARE Clubs have been a success! Students have had wonderful opportunities to engage with their peers and enjoy activities relative to their interest, fostering a sense of belonging in our FMS community. Fishing Club welcomed over 100 participants- WHOA! We were also able to add a new club in Quarter 1: Cricket Club!
For Q2, we welcome ICARE Chess Club and FMS Blooms. FMS Blooms is a new horticulture club where students can learn about and care for plants. FMS Swifties loved their Quarter 1 Club so much that they're continuing for Quarter 2!
If students have an idea for a club, they just have to find at least one staff member to sponsor their club to get it started! Forming and joining our CARE Clubs allows students to apply the social and emotional learning skills learned through our ICARE program. These social and emotional learning skills underscore the 5 core competencies of SEL: self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, social awareness, and relationship skills. Through explicit modeling and engagement, positive reinforcement, and CARE Club opportunities, students' SEL skills are learned and acknowledged throughout FMS.

November is Childhood Grief Awareness Month
Hey everyone! Did you know November is Childhood Grief Awareness Month? This month, we take time to remember that many kids and teens have experienced the loss of someone they care about. It’s important to support each other, especially when things feel tough. If you or someone you know has lost someone special, know that you’re not alone. There are people here to listen and help. Let’s look out for each other this month and every month! Children’s Grief Awareness Day in 2024 is on Thursday, November 21. This day helps raise awareness of the needs of grieving children and the importance of supporting them. To show our support, let’s all wear blue on November 21! More details to come!
FMS Families, PTO, and Hospitality Committee Does it Again!
All FMS faculty members received a bag of treats and goodies on Wednesday. There were even a few extra special surprises for teachers who did their homework and filled out a survey of preferences.
Thank you families, PTO, Hospitality Committee, and Connie Bernard for your generosity of time and treats!

On Thursday, October 31, Fugett students dressed in traditional clothing to celebrate Diwali, sharing cultural facts with the student body via morning announcements about the celebration.
November is National American Indian Heritage Month, also known Native American and Alaska Native Heritage Month. The Department of Defense Education Activity states, "this observance commemorates the history, heritage, and culture of Native Americans and Alaskan Natives. It is during this month we acknowledge the vast achievements of America’s original indigenous people" (Retrieved 11/2024). The 2024 theme for National American Indian Heritage Month is “Affirming Native Voices: Visibility, Leadership, Service". Please visit the White House Proclamation on National American Indian Heritage Month for more information.

Fugett Food Drive
From October 21-November 12, Fugett Middle School will be collecting items for a school-wide food drive! Each grade level will bring in specific items to be stored in their homeroom during the collection period. At the end of the collection period, we will make gratitude baskets for the items to be provided to Fugett families for Thanksgiving. This experience is grounded in our school-wide social and emotional learning, providing real-life application of the SEL skills. The homeroom with the most items will win a prize! All items are due by November 12.
If your family is in need of assistance during the upcoming extended breaks, please reach out to our Home and School visitor, Erin Crystle at ecrystle@wcasd.net

6th Grade Intramural Soccer
Dear Students and Parents, Welcome to 6th Grade Intramural Soccer! We are looking forward to a great few weeks with you! Co-ed intramurals will be fun and a great learning experience. We will be learning proper stretching and training techniques, running drills, skill drills, positioning, scrimmaging, sportsmanship, and teamwork! We will be holding practice after school from 2:15 – 4:00 pm according to the below schedule.
We will be playing either at the fields on Paoli Pike or the Price Fields across Ellis Lane. Please make sure that your ride is here promptly! You should be dressed properly for practice: It will be getting VERY cold outside, wear layers! I would also recommend wearing a thin pair of gloves! Shin guards and cleats are not mandatory, but are recommended! Bring a SNACK to eat before we begin. Good snack ideas include pretzels, a peanut butter sandwich, fruit, juice, etc. You should also bring bottled water as we do a lot of running! Water will not be provided by the school. Please keep in mind the district’s activity fee. This will need to be paid by all students participating in 6th grade soccer. Please see the district website on how to pay the activity fee. Coaches will not accept any activity fees!
As this is 6th grade soccer, sport’s physicals are not necessary. Students will receive a blue card on the first day of practice where you can write emergency information and contact information. There is no FAMILY ID signups for 6th grade soccer. As long as the activity fee is paid and you bring the blue emergency card, which will be given out, students can come to the first practice. Please get changed in the locker room and leave your things in the locker room while we play. Do not put on your cleats until you’re outside! We’ll meet outside the cafeteria at 2:30 pm each day. Let’s have fun! The schedule is below. Please listen to the announcements for any changes due to inclement weather!
Pick up at the end of practice is at the front of Fugett. You do not have to come to practice every day. If you cannot make it to a practice, we’ll see you at the next one!
6th Grade Soccer Intramurals 2024 Schedule All practices will run from 2:15pm – 4:00pm. Students must be picked up in front of Fugett by 4:00 pm every day. If you cannot be picked up on time do not come to practice that day!
