NEWS FROM AROUND THE SCHOOL
Hello Ida B. Wells Families & Feeder School Families,
PPS School Board approved the IBW Comprehensive Plan. The team is now starting the next phase of design work. You can help shape that process by joining the Ida B. Wells Design Advisory Group (DAG). This group will meet about every six weeks to provide input and feedback to the project team on the design options and ideas for the new school.
Although DAG members perform in an advisory role only, this community input is vital to the success of the project. Decisions on project details are the responsibility of the Office of School Modernization in collaboration with other District leadership.
Join the Ida B. Wells Design Advisory Group
To apply for the DAG click here or, visit the IBW Modernization Website. Applications are available in multiple languages and the deadline for applications is Thursday, May 16th. The first meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 20th at 6:00p.m. in the IBW library.
Please review the IBW DAG Charter, Code of Conduct and Meeting Schedule before you apply. Make sure you can make most of the meetings and commit to the responsibilities of the DAG. All this information and more is available at the IBW Modernization Website.
Other Engagement Opportunities
If you are unable to join the DAG, you will still have opportunities to make your voice heard at upcoming Design Workshops and Open Houses. Dates will be announced on the website.
IBW Comprehensive Plan Open House Thursday, May 16th
We also wanted to invite you to an IBW Comprehensive Plan Open House on Thursday, May 16th from 4:00p.m. to 7:30p.m. in the Ida B. Wells Auditorium Lobby. This is a drop-in event so stop by anytime to see the current plans for the new Ida B. Wells High School.
Thank you for your interest in the IBW Modernization Project.
Report Cards: Go Paperless!
We have an important announcement regarding a change in how we distribute report cards. Due to significant budget cuts, the print shop at the district is closing its doors. As a result, our school will need to print and mail report cards, incurring substantial costs.
To help mitigate these expenses and streamline our processes, we're offering the option to receive report cards electronically through ParentVue. By opting in to paperless report cards, you not only help reduce our environmental footprint but also assist in preserving vital school funds for other educational needs.
Please note that for paperless report cards to be effective, both parents must opt in. If only one parent opts in, a paper copy will still be mailed to your home.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this transition. Together, we can make a positive impact on both our school's finances and the environment.
To learn how to opt in please click this link.
Successful Schools Survey
Ida B. Wells families - we'd love your feedback. Please take a few minutes and fill out this survey.
Families will select your site from the drop-down list at the following URL. Families with more than one student can respond for their eldest student or take the survey more than once. https://surveys.panoramaed.com/portlandor/familyspring24/surveys
ISO Portable CD Players
