ACE Scholarship
Qualified high school students taking college coursework while still in high school are eligible to apply for an Access College Early (ACE) Scholarship. The scholarship is funded by the State of Nebraska and is administered by Nebraska’s Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education (CCPE). Information on the CCPE can be found at https://ccpe.nebraska.gov/, and information on the scholarship, including eligibility guidelines, can be found under the Financial Aid section of the CCPE website. Students are no longer eligible to apply for this scholarship once they graduate from high school. Please reach out to Mrs. Wiegert (ecwiegert@mpsomaha.org) in the counseling center with any questions regarding the scholarship.
Social Media Information
An important reminder to parents and guardians - please keep up with your children’s activities on their devices and encourage them to talk with you about where they go and what they do online.
A new concern is online predators targeting young people for extortion. The young person is told if they do not give money, then a threat will be made against a school in their name. Obviously, this is concerning to us, and no doubt you as well.
For all of us, it is crucial to recognize the dangers posed by online predators and to be aware of the risks associated with social media, gaming, and text channels. Please talk with your teenagers and make sure you know what they are doing online. Explain the dangers to them, and let them know they can always come to you when they have a concern. The faster parents and trusted adults are informed, the quicker we can act.
We understand the concern and anxiety that such incidents can generate, and we are committed to maintaining a safe learning environment for all. I hope this information is helpful for you and your family as we all work to keep our young people safe.
