February 17 to 21, 2025

Principal's Message
Dear Falcon students and families,
I hope you are all enjoying the rest and relaxation that the Family Day long weekend provides. This past week we had an amazing turnout by our potential future falcons at our Open House. By our count we had over 400 potential students tour our building, and the highlight of the night, as always, was our fantastic students who came out in force to share their Facey experience! As always we were so proud of how welcoming and informative each of them were. They truly are what makes Bev Facey such an incredible place to learn and grow.
I also want to take this opportunity to welcome a new staff member to Facey. We are very lucky to have Mr. Larson, who will be teaching Mechanics 10 this semester.
This upcoming week features our School Council meeting on Tuesday, February 18. I would like to invite all of you who are able to join us, either in person or via Microsoft Teams. The returning student registration process is also continuing for the rest of this week until Monday, February 24, and we are hoping that each of you will take the time to access the registration process.
I hope you all have an amazing week, and as always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
Ken Wlos
Principal
Bev Facey Community High School
BFCHS Attendance
After reviewing student attendance from last semester it became apparent that it was an area that we want to highlight moving forward to give our students the best opportunity to succeed in their classes. In the coming weeks the expectations we have of our students in this area will be addressed in an attempt to provide them that opportunity.

BFCHS School Council presents speaker David Irvine - March 11, 2025
RAISING ACCOUNTABLE, CAPABLE YOUNG PEOPLE - Paving the Way for Your Child’s Success
Our Bev Facey School Council has joined forces with Fultonvale and Rudolph Hennig to host David Irvine on March 11, 2025 at 6:30 p.m.. Raising a child to become a responsible, respectful, resilient citizen requires deliberate action, intentional focus, and a strong, supportive community. Raising kids to be accountable and capable can be challenging and it takes courage to be a parent. With over forty years of experience as a family therapist, leadership advisor, author, parent, and grandparent, David Irvine offers a unique perspective for raising capable young people in a post pandemic world. Come prepared for an inspiring and thought-provoking presentation that will support, challenge, and shift the way you parent.
Learn how to:
• Raise capable, accountable young people in a self-indulgent world.
• Build citizenship in a consumer society.
• Balance support with demands to build capability.
• Deal responsibly and effectively with devices and technology.
• Support your kids without rescuing them.
• Guide kids who are facing anxiety.
• Let go and enjoy your kids.

Pink Shirt Day
Stand Up. Speak Out. Spread Kindness.
Pink Shirt Day started in 2007 when a student in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. Today, it’s a global movement to promote kindness and prevent bullying.
This February 26th, let’s come together, wear pink, and show that we stand for inclusion, respect, and healthy relationships. Whether at school, work, or with family and friends, we can all create safe spaces by supporting one another.
