STAFF CORNER
CONCRETE POURING
Maintenance personnel and bus drivers collaborate as a team on the concrete while it is being poured to place the refrigerator near the Cafeteria. Photo taken the morning on April 12th.
The pavement was also constructed for the outdoor portable structure leading to Mr. Stephen's English classroom.
Dual Language attended the NMABE Conference
The To'Hajiilee Dual Language team attended the New Mexico Association for Bilingual Education conference in Albuquerque. During our Spring break, the following dedicated staff were in attendance for three days: Matilda George, Sarah Lucero, Marlinda Charlie, Arlissa Francisco, Shaandiin Begay and Elayne Costello. The conference provided many profound information and topics on dual language to enhance our TCS Dine Dual Language program. The DL team had many resources and information to bring back to implement in the classroom as well as professional growth of promoting and maintaining Dine language and culture.
We also had a day with our DLeNM consultants as a work session to start planning for next school year 2024 -25. We revisited our program goals and what are expectations for Dine language learning. As part of our work session, we did an activity on working on an action plan for concepts to move to English content to Dine dual language content......which is hard to do but it's a start. The work session allowed us to collaborate with our neighbor, Torreon (Na Nelzhiin Ji Olta) School to share what they are doing to promote Dine language and culture within their school. As we collaborated, we had similarities as school for our program......to immerse our students with Dine language and culture to validate their identity.
