Football team enters Lacey week at 3-0
On both ends of the field, senior Royalty Riley was making noise on opening night during Central Regional’s 20-0 victory over Hightstown in Bayville. Riley hauled in two touchdown catches on offense and snagged two interceptions on defense to help the Golden Eagles win their season opener.
In game 2 of the season Joe Vezzosi lead the Golden Eagles to a 41-28 victory by throwing for 158 yards and 4 touchdowns. Senior Nich Ruggiero ran for 115 yards and sophomore C.J. Yates had over 100 yards receiving and 2 touchdown catches.
It was a big night on the ground for Nick Ruggiero during Central Regional’s 28-7 victory over Toms River East. Ruggiero plunged his way into the end zone three times to lead the Golden Eagles to their third straight win to begin the season. After a fumble recovery by CJ Yates early on in the first quarter gave Central Regional the ball back near midfield, Ruggiero finished off the ensuing drive with his first touchdown run of the night to give the Golden Eagles an early 7-0 lead. Senior quarterback Joe Vezzosi put Central Regional up 14-0 going into the second quarter with his 36-yard touchdown pass to Sean Tunney during the final seconds of the first quarter.

Boys Soccer has some early season success, starts season at 2-1
The boys soccer team started the season with a 10-1 victory over Pinelands. In that game, Blake Crutchley and Ilyas Ciltepe each had two goals. The next game was against rival Toms River East in which Ilyas again had two goals in the 2-1 victory, with one of the goals as the game winner in overtime. Below is a link to that goal.

Gymnastics starts off season 2-1
Our gymnastics team started the season off at a tri meet at Colts Neck. The team defeated Freehold Boro 100- 82.5 and lost to Colts Neck 102.4 to 100. Cate Pongratz with a 32.75 all around score. Gabriella Baudo scored a 9 on the floor exercise and Alex Frulio scored a 8.8 on her bars routine. The golden eagles then defeated Holmdel 103.4 to 100.725. Leading the way was Cate Pongratz who scored a 9.15 on the vault. ALex Frulio had high scores for CR in her floor exercise 9.05 and bar routine with a 8.175.

Field Hockey starts season strong with a 4-1 start
The field hockey team opened up the season with a 7-0 victory over Barnegat in which Sianna Valverde scored 5 goals and Gianna Urcinole had 3 assist. Their next game was against Jackson Memorial with a final winning score of 6-1. RyAnn Dunn led the golden eagles with 3 goals. Madison Heinrich, Sianna Valverde, and Faith Fisher tallied a goal each as well. To secure their 3rd victory of the season over TRS 2-0, Ryann Dunn and Gianna Urcinole each scored a goal in the shut out. Emma Mitchell had 9 saves on the day. The team finished out the week with their first A-south conference game against Lacey. Jaelynn Witte, Melissa Bickford, and Gianna Urcinole were all able to tally a goal for the 3-1 victory.
Girls Soccer starts off season 1-1-1
The girls soccer team started off the season with a tough 1-1 tie against Manasquan in which Leah DiCillo scored the loan goal for the golden eagles. Their next game was a tough 0-1 defeat at point boro. The girls bounced back with a 7-0 win over Matawan. Shelby Parks & Logan Lisewski led the way with 2 goals each, & Ava Bozinis, Cali Fecak, & Addie Anacker each had 1. Assists were by Leah Dicillo x2, Shelby Parks, Ava Schmidhauser, Jordyn Buccos, & Emma Christensen. S/O to our back line for securing the shutout.

Girls Tennis starts off season with a 4-3 record
The Girls’ Varsity Tennis Team picked up wins against Barnegat, Lacey, and Pinelands. Then the Varsity Tennis Team defeated Wall Twp 4-1. 1st Singles, Brooke Norton had a dominant win in straight sets for the Lady Golden Eagles. The team also picked up victories at 2nd singles, and 1st and 2nd Doubles! Way to go ladies!
Boys and Girls Cross Country Team have strong starts to season
The boys and girls cross country teams have started their seasons off strong with two impressive performances at The Cherokee Challenge and The Battle @ Ocean County Park. Sophomore Laina Hoffman and junior Cailyn Wenger have led the way on the girls side, posting impressive times to start the season. Laina was a sophomore section medalist at The Battle @ Ocean County Park and has already run lifetime personal bests in the 5k with much of the season left to go. On the boys side, sophomores Richard Casey and Vinny Trematerra have led the way, with upperclassmen Javier Sanchez and TJ Snyder supporting with strong efforts as well. The Golden Eagles will run again at Stockton University this Friday 9/20 and will face rivals Lacey on Thursday 9/26 at Lacey High School.
