Three Things to Know
First Day of School
FinalForms
If you have not yet done so, please log into your FinalForms account to review information, make any necessary changes, and sign off for the new school year. This quick process, which takes less than 10 minutes, is REQUIRED for all families. If you’ve already completed your forms—thank you!
All FinalForms must be completed by Monday, September 23. For safety reasons, students with incomplete forms after this date will not be allowed to attend school until their forms are complete.
Pick-Up/Drop-Off
Please visit the Events and Reminders section to review the changes to drop-off and pick-up procedures for North and West prior to the first day of school. More information can also be found here.
Events & Reminders
Transportation
- Car Riders: West and North student drop-off will occur from 8-8:20 a.m. at the “walking path” entrance at the back of the buildings. West and North dismissal will occur from 3:15-3:25 p.m. at the same location. Please familiarize yourself with our full drop-off and pick-up procedures by referencing the packet you received at Open House or by visiting our pick-up and drop-off web page.
- Busing: As a reminder, all routes and bus-related updates/communication are shared with families through the StopFinder App (available for download in the App Store and Google Play). Please contact the Transportation Department at 440-748-2125 or visit our busing web page if you have any questions.
Attendance
If your child will be absent or tardy please telephone West Elementary School at (440) 748-2305, Option #2, (preferably before 8:00 a.m.), and state the reason for the absence/tardy. If such a call is not received, the school will attempt to verify absences by our automated phone system the day the absence occurs. Read more about our attendance procedures and what to do if your child is tardy to school on our attendance web page.
Breakfast & Lunch
Cafeteria menus and information regarding student meal accounts can be found on the Midview Local Schools Food Services web page.
Chromebooks
Students will be assigned a Chromebook on the first day of school. Students are expected to charge their Chromebooks each night and take reasonable care of their device, charger, and Chromebook case!
Midview Local Schools App - Rooms
As you may recall, we introduced our PK-12 teacher-to-parent communication tool, Rooms, last year. Integrated with the Midview Local Schools app, Rooms makes it easy for parents and guardians to connect with their child’s classroom and teacher!
We’re excited to share that staff will be active in Rooms beginning the first week of school! Please be patient as we iron out any initial issues, and don’t worry if you can’t see all of your student’s classes right away! Returning families can log in as usual, while new families will receive an email or text invitation with instructions on how to join. If you haven't already, please download the free Midview Local Schools App from the Apple App Store or Google Play!
Library Cards for Midview Students
Exciting news! Your child will soon receive a FREE student library card from the Grafton-Midview Public Library. This initiative, in partnership with the Midview Local School District, aims to enhance access to educational and recreational materials, as research shows that library cardholders often perform better in school.
The card allows your child to borrow books, PG/G movies, music, and audiobooks, request library item deliveries to their school, access digital resources for homework, and register for library events. Note that the card has a limit of 5 items at once and cannot be used for equipment, games, kits or other objects. Families will be financially responsible for borrowed items and should monitor the items their child(ren) checks out. If you wish to opt out of this program, please fill out the following form.

Enrollment is easy and scheduling is flexible! Please click here to read more about Champions or enroll your child.

Building Refresh
If you have visited the elementary campus lately, you might have noticed the new Midview decals installed on the windows of the libraries and the main entrances of North, West, and East. These designs not only enhance the overall appearance of each building but also aid in climate control and improve security.
At West, we are always committed to enhancing our learning environment and providing a more engaging space for our students and staff. Our amazing art teacher, Mrs. Cote, has worked diligently over the last few weeks to create interactive bulletin boards that support our students' learning.
Utilizing characters from Disney's Inside Out, Mrs. Cote has designed a bulletin board that aligns with our Zones of Regulation social-emotional curriculum. We look forward to featuring pictures of students and staff demonstrating the different emotions!
Next, inspired by the picture book, The Word Collector, our new interactive bulletin board encourages both students and teachers to share vocabulary they are focusing on during their ELA lessons.
Finally, Mrs. Cote refreshed our main showcase and office vestibule to warmly welcome our students and families to the building.
