End of Year Reminders
Just a few reminders for students and families as we conclude the 2024-25 school year:
- All seniors must have classes completed by May 30 if they intend to walk in graduation ceremonies.
- Our last proficiency day is May 30 at the District Office. Any student who is at risk of not completing their courses on time is required to attend. There are 2 sessions: 9:00 am to noon and 12:30 to 3:30 pm.
- Underclassmen should have their classes completed by the end of the day on Thursday, June 4.
- Any high school student that is unable to complete Edgenuity classes by June 4 may be eligible for an extension through June 26. If you believe that you will need an extension, please contact Mrs. Boehm or Mrs. Fiechtner.
- All school computers should be returned to the District Office (700 S 7th Street) on or before June 5 from 8-4PM. Computers are reimaged over the summer so that they are updated and ready for students in the fall. If you are taking summer school classes, please bring your school-issued device in so it can be checked out correctly.
Back to school nights for Virtual Academy students returning in the fall are:
o August 21, 4:00-7:00 pm for students last name A-M
o August 25, 4:00-7:00 pm for students last name N-Z

End of Year Connection Day/Field Trip
Thank you to all students who participated in our April connection day at the 1889.
To celebrate the end of the year, we are having dress-up days next week. Please plan to participate and if you can, take a picture of yourself dressed up and email it to Mrs. Boehm or one of your teachers.

Our last connection day will be held Wednesday, May 21st. We have a fun morning planned by first going to Lowe’s where we will be making birdhouses and planting flowers before heading to Texas Roadhouse for snacks, arts, and learning to line dance. All students are welcome. If you plan to attend, please be at the District Office (700 7th Street South) to load the bus by 9:00 am. We will be returning by 12:45 pm that day.

Last Proficiency Day
We will be hosting the last proficiency day of the year at the FPS District Office (700 7th Street South). All VA teachers in core areas are present to assist students in person on these days. Any student in grade 6-12 is invited to participate, but students who are either failing a class or who is more than 10% behind pace in their classes is required to attend.
Proficiency day will be held on May 30, 2025. There are two sessions: morning from 9:00 to 12:00 P.M. and afternoon from 12:30 to 3:30 PM.
Graduation is Coming Soon!
Congratulations to all of our seniors on their upcoming graduation. We have a record number of seniors this year with more than 60 graduates! As in past years, students have the opportunity to choose where they would like to participate in graduation ceremonies, either electing to walk in the building that coincides with their attendance area, walking with Virtual Academy, or electing to have their diploma delivered. A reminder to all of our seniors that classes must be completed by May 30 to allow time for grades to be posted.
There is no limit on the number of people who are invited to attend the ceremonies and support our graduates. For family and friends that want to watch and aren’t able to attend in person, all ceremonies will be live streamed as well as available after the ceremonies. Below is information on upcoming ceremonies, including live stream information. Attendance at rehearsal is mandatory for students planning to walk.

Summer School
Fargo Public Schools does have summer school available for any middle school student needing to enhance their skills in Math and English or who would like to participate in music camps. Academic courses for middle school students are offered at Ben Franklin, Carl Ben Eielson, and Discovery Middle Schools. There is also an option for virtual classes with students logging in each day on Teams. Dates for summer school are June 10-July 2.
High school students can also earn credit over the summer by attending summer school. Students can either attend in person at South High or virtually on Teams. Summer school dates for high school students are Semester 1: June 10-July 2 and Semester 2: July 7-29.

Our second annual Virtual Academy Awards Ceremony was held on Monday, May 5. We are very proud of our students who received awards in the areas of leadership, service, the arts, and academics as well as our students who were inducted into Honor Society and our seniors who received their honor cords.

iTimes - Are you attending?
This is just a reminder that we expect all middle school and freshmen students to participate in I-times each week. This is an opportunity to connect with your teachers as well as small groups of other students to discuss important topics.

Congratulations to our principal Holly Fiechtner who was nominated for FPS Administrator of the Year. Mrs. Fiechtner was recognized for her work with Virtual Academy during our awards ceremony on June 5.
