Middle School Testing Starts Next Week – Let’s Help Our Students Shine!
Middle school testing begins next week, and we want to ensure every student is ready to do their very best. Your encouragement and support at home are key to setting a positive tone for testing success!
Here are some helpful strategies to share with your child:
✅ Get plenty of sleep – Aim for 8–10 hours the night before to support focus and memory.
✅ Eat a brain-boosting breakfast – Fuel up with protein (like eggs or yogurt), fruit, and whole grains.
✅ Arrive on time – Please make sure your child arrives at school no later than 8:30 AM so they can settle in calmly before testing begins.
✅ Read each question carefully – Encourage students to slow down and understand what’s being asked.
✅ Use the process of elimination – Cross out wrong answers to narrow down the best choice.
✅ Pace yourself – Stay mindful of the time without rushing. Save a few minutes at the end to check work.
✅ Stay positive – Remind students to breathe, stay calm, and remember that all we ask is for their best effort!
✅ Double-check work – Reviewing answers can help catch mistakes or missed questions.
🚫 Please note:
-
Face misters or sprays are not permitted at school anytime.
-
All cell phones and smartwatches must be turned off and put away during testing. Any use will be considered a testing violation.

This carnival serves as a Quarterly Behavior Celebration, recognizing students who uphold our school’s expectations and values.
As a reminder, per our school’s protocol, students who have been suspended or have received four or more infractions this quarter will not be eligible to participate in this event.

Franklin Academy Resources:
PYP Agency
In the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), agency refers to the capacity of students to take ownership of their learning. It's a core concept that reflects how students are empowered to:
Voice their opinions, ideas, and choices.
Choice in how and what they learn.
Act on their learning and decisions to make a difference.
Student agency in the PYP is about students being active participants—not passive recipients—in their education. This includes making decisions about their learning goals, how they approach tasks, collaborating with others, and reflecting on their progress.
Ways Students Can Practice Agency Over the Summer
By pursue personal interests and passions through independent reading, research, or creative projects- this could involve exploring a new topic, learning a new skill, or pursuing a hobby.
By setting goals and taking initiative, students can continue to develop their independence and self-direction, while also staying engaged and motivated.
By taking action on issues that are important to them. This could involve volunteering in their community, raising awareness about a social or environmental issue, or starting a project that addresses a local or global problem.

Exploring History: 8th Graders Dive into Holocaust Timeline Scavenger Hunt
In preparation for their unit on the Holocaust, Ms. Simpson's 8th grade students completed a Holocaust Timeline Scavenger Hunt. Ms. Simpson posted a timeline of the events of the Holocaust on the walls of her classroom, and students worked in teams of two to complete the scavenger hunt by notating the dates of key events from the Holocaust on their cards.
Parent Referral Program
We are excited to announce that Franklin Academy is now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 academic year, with the goal of achieving full enrollment at each grade level. To support this effort, we are launching a Parent Referral Program and encourage all of our current families to help spread the word and refer new families to our school.
By participating, families can earn service hours for each referred family that attends a campus tour. Additionally, new families will be entered into a drawing for a free Franklin uniform set upon enrollment.
Here’s how you can get involved:
- Pick up referral postcards at the front office or access digital copies on our website and in our weekly newsletter.
- Share the postcards in person, via social media, text, or email.
- Encourage referred families to attend a campus tour with completed materials.
Franklin Academy is known for its high academic standards, consistently exceeding district and state performance benchmarks. With our dedicated teachers, small class sizes, and unique IB World School designation, we ensure that your child receives the best possible education.
Thank you for being an integral part of our community and for helping us grow and strengthen the Franklin family!
