• John Schultz, Director of Student Improvement, requested approval of an update to the 5K-5th grade Bridges Math curriculum, which was adopted for use by the District in 2015. The updated materials were reviewed by teachers and administration. Schultz also recommended new Science curriculum for 7-8th grades. Teachers and administrators also conducted a review and pilot of the new science program in order to address gaps found with the current programming and the current science standards. The Board approved both the 5K-5 math update, and the new 7-8th grade science resources. More information can be found in the meeting agenda.
• Holly Prast, Assistant Superintendent, requested and the Board approved the 2024-25 staffing plan. Planning is a complex process of projecting things like student enrollment and staff retirement, along with multiple other factors, with a goal of retaining as many staff as possible while remaining fiscally responsible. The Board approved the plan, whose overall effect was a decrease of 4.1 FTE. Details of the plan can be found in Boarddocs.
• Dawn Ludwig, Director of Human Resources, requested approval of a staff layoff. The Board approved the layoff of one teaching position which was due to a decline in enrollment.
• Ludwig also requested and the Board approved a teaching contract for Cole Tremble, Physical Education Teacher at the Elementary Schools, effective August 27, 2024.
• Additional contracts approved by the Board included Patrisha Hoffman, 2nd Grade Literacy Teacher at Janssen Elementary and Avery Streckert, 3rd Grade Teacher at Woodland Elementary School, both effective August 27, 2024; in addition to a contract for Brittany Mayer, Science Teacher at J.R. Gerritts Middle School, effective August 20, 2024.

Each building in the District will soon honor their retiring staff and staff who are joining the “25 Year Club.” This year’s retirees are: Laura Bockhaus, Sunrise Elementary; Sue Curtis, Woodland Intermediate; Michelle Everson, Woodland Elementary; Jason Jansen, J.R. Gerritts; Rick Lippold, Westside Elementary; and Marcia Van Hout, Kimberly High School.

Gerritts Middle School. We thank you all for your dedication to our District!

We are ecstatic to announce that the Kimberly Area School District (KASD) has once again been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education in the nation by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation (NAMM). This marks the 11th consecutive year that KASD has received this prestigious recognition and is one of only 36 Wisconsin districts and only 975 districts across the country to receive this prestigious award in 2024. The Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding commitment and achievement in their efforts to provide music access and education to all students. Congratulations to all of the students, teachers, and staff who made this achievement possible. This recognition is a testament to their hard work and dedication!

Kimberly High School Production Graphics Students are in the process of designing & printing Senior Yard Signs for the entire 2024 graduating class. With over 300 celebratory signs needed, the project showcases our student's ability to collaborate effectively, strategize, and work with precision to meet the unique requests of each senior. This project is a highlight of the incredible efforts undertaken by our Production Graphics team this March, following closely on the heels of their remarkable achievement in fulfilling a substantial order of over 700 shirts for JRG earlier in the month. Beyond highlighting our students' technical skills and creativity, these projects also offer an invaluable learning experience that nurtures their personal and professional growth.

Brad Siebers was recognized for his 23-year tenure on the Board of Education. Siebers who did not run for another 3-year term was thanked for his commitment, compassion, and dedication to the students, families and taxpayers of the District. Siebers likewise said a few words of thanks to his fellow Board members, the administration, teachers and the community. Mary Pribbenow, Board President, presented Siebers with a Certificate of Commendation in appreciation for his many years of service to the Kimberly Area School District.
