A Message To Families From Mr. Peck
Riverview Families,
Thank you to everyone who came out for Family Bowling Night last week. It was so fun to see Riverview families coming together for a night of fun and connection. I saw lots of smiles and even a few strikes! I feel so grateful for the strong school community that we have and for the way our families consistently show up to support our efforts. If you didn't get a chance to bowl last week, there will be another opportunity in a few weeks. See below for more information on that.
I also want to express how grateful I am for every person on the Riverview team. This includes teachers, paras, custodians, counselors, nurses, administrative assistants, food service, bus drivers, school psych, tech support and anyone else that works to make a positive impact on the learners we serve. It is a dedicated and talented group of professionals that always puts kids first and consistently goes above and beyond to make our school a special place for our learners. Amazing things happen at Riverview every day and it is because of the people that come there each day.
Remember: No school on Thursday or Friday this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Best wishes for a great week!
Shawn Peck
Principal

Multiage Authors Visit Kindergarten To Read Their Stories & Offer Encouragement
Raegan, Marissa and Hunter from Mrs. Hinz’s multiage class recently visited Mrs. Huppert’s kindergartners to show them what it means to be authors and illustrators. These 5th graders created a series of fictional stories and are reading them to our kindergarten learners. They are modeling for the kindergartners that their imagination and lots of practice can help them do some pretty amazing things!

Balloons Over Riverview Parade Set For Wednesday; Volunteers Requested
Our learners in all grades have been hard at work using their design thinking, collaboration ability, creativity, and engineering skills to prepare for our annual "Balloons Over Riverview" parade. It will take place on Wednesday afternoon. We will be sharing lots of fun pictures and videos of the event so everyone in our school community can see the amazing creations of our learners!
Ms. Asher-Carlson is looking for volunteers to help with finishing touches of everyone's projects this week. If you can help out, please click this link and sign up for a time to help with cutting, gluing, and anything else that might be needed.
After the parade ends on Wednesday, several classrooms will be participating in a school-wide Bingo game. It will take place over Google Meet and when a student gets a Bingo, they will come to the main office to get a prize. We would love to have a few parent volunteers help us with handing out prizes. You can find a spot to sign up for this at the bottom of the sign-up genius. Thank you in advance for the help!

Winter Weather Reminders
Make sure you have a plan for all possible weather-related schedule changes, like a late start, early release, or flexible learning day, and that your contact information is up to date with your child’s school.
If you need child care, please arrange for backup options in advance in case of a flexible learning day or an early release due to weather. School may also have a delayed start depending on weather conditions, which could also require alternative child care.
In the event of a school closure, delayed start, or early release, other school events may be canceled depending on the forecast and conditions. For the latest updates regarding before and after-school activities, please watch the news or visit the district website for the latest announcements regarding the status of before and after school activities.

Information on planned and emergency flexible learning days can be found here.

Riverview Is Hiring! Join Our Team As A Special Education Paraprofessional!
Come join a great team and make a difference in the lives of children! Riverview has multiple positions open to work with learners with special needs. The positions range from 29.75 hours hours per week to 32 hours per week. Pay starts at $19.50 per hour plus benefits. Click here to learn more and to apply. Please reach out to principal, Shawn Peck at speck@farmington.k12.mn.us if you have any questions.
We Need Your Help! We Are In Need of More Paraprofessional Substitutes
Our paraprofessionals are a vital part of our team and they do so much every day for our students. Like everyone, they have to miss work from time to time due to illness, family matters, etc. When that happens, it leaves our learners with less support. And unfortunately, often times these absences go "unfilled" due to a shortage of capable and willing subs. That is why we are asking for people in our Riverview community to consider being a para sub. The pay is $15 per hour and you can work as much (or as little) as you want. Whether you sub one day or every day, each time you enter a classroom, you are responsible for the helping the most important resource we have in our school -- our children.
If you would like to sign up to sub as a teacher or paraprofessional for the Farmington Schools you will have to apply through Teachers on Call (TOC). Please email or call TOC directly at 1800-713-4439 or apply online at teachersoncall.com.
Keep On Reading Every Night at Home! It Makes a HUGE Difference!
