PLEASE HAVE A HEART TO HEART WITH YOUR CHILDREN...
As a school we have noticed a disheartening trend that is affecting students in ALL of our grades. It is a form of negative self talk that goes beyond the norm. We have been getting concerns of statements like, "I want to kill myself", I hate myself", "I just want to die" and others like it. These are not just one off occurrences but appears to be becoming a scary trend. Please understand that as a school we have to address these statements as if there is the potential for self harm. We believe most of these statements are an over exaggeration, however, we cannot trust that and appropriate measures will be taken. Please explain to your children that this type of self talk is harmful to themselves and can have real outcomes. It hurts our hearts to hear statements such as these, as we are sure it does yours as well. Thank you for partnering with us to help!
