Cross Country Wins CIF and STATE!
The Beckman Boys Cross Country team has had a season for the ages. This team’s accomplishments began back in September with some good results at the nationally-attended Woodbridge Invitational. They picked up steam in October with a team win at the prestigious Clovis Invitational and then again at the Mt. SAC Invitational. They started off November winning the Sea View League championship and didn’t stop there. On November 23rd, the Boys brought home the school’s first CIF title in Cross Country, but they were still hungry for more. The team then went on to compete at the State Championships on Saturday, November 30th up in Fresno. Running against the elite teams throughout the state, your Patriots were victorious again, winning the first team State Championship in Beckman’s history. This team consists of seven runners: Anthony Barrera, Ryan Barris, Aaron Feaster, Nathan Horrocks, Mason Nguyen, Jude Tenorio and Christian Weber. They have worked well together with different runners excelling in each race this year for Coaches Corey Schuld, Miguel Torres, Helen Flechner and Nancy Keyler. We are so proud of what this team has accomplished and they will forever be enshrined in Patriot Athletics history.
Chino Marching Band Review
Last Saturday November 2nd, the Beckman Highschool Patriot Marching Band competed in the 52nd Annual Chino Invitational Band Review at Chino High School. This is the first time in Beckman's history that the Patriot Band has competed in this Review.
The Patriots earned 4th place overall, competing against eight other bands in their division. They earned a score of 88.05, with the third place winner, Montebello High School earning a score of 88.70. Our Drum Major, senior Noah Chang earned second place overall in the Mace category with a score of 86.5, against 9 other Drum Majors from various schools. You can watch our performance on the Music213 YouTube channel, which films all the competitions we participate in. https://youtu.be/NKvxCKIneL4?si=TylBeODEUaNvAvoS
With 42 bands competing in this Review overall, it was a packed, but rewarding day for the Patriots. Our next competition is set at Arcadia High School for the Festival of Bands on November 23rd, promising to be yet another eventful day. With our Veterans concert on Thursday, November 7th and CIF games on the horizon, the band is shaping up to end their season with a bang. GO PATRIOTS!
Beckman Student Takes 1st Place in IVC Pitch Competition
We are thrilled to celebrate Chloe Dalmacio for taking 1st Place in the highly competitive IVC Idea Pitch Competition, where she stood out among 50 entries. Her winning idea, CauseConnect, is an innovative app designed to connect high school students with volunteer opportunities at non-profits and help organizations find eager student volunteers. Chloe’s polished presentation and impactful concept impressed the judges, securing her top honors. Pictured are Chloe’s mentor, Jeff Greenberg; judges Caitlin Tran, Don Voss, Brian Arnold, and Cynthia West; and IVC entrepreneurship professor John Russo.
Congratulations, Chloe, on this outstanding achievement!
Finals Schedule and Winter Break
As the semester draws to a close, we want to remind you that finals and Winter Break are quickly approaching. The last day of school is December 19th, and vacations should not begin before this date. Please note that early finals will not be administered to students who plan to leave before the semester ends.
Additionally, traffic is expected to be extremely heavy on the first and second days of finals. We recommend planning ahead and arriving early to avoid delays.
For your convenience, the finals schedule is provided below.
2024 Golden Touch Award Winners!
Congratulations to Mr. Chow and Mrs. Hungerford for being selected as this year's Golden Touch Award. This award is sponsored by the Tustin Public Schools Foundation and is a student-driven award that goes to that special staff member who just has that "Golden Touch" when interacting with students. Winners will attend a special breakfast in their honor in the coming weeks.
Beckman High School Medical Certificate Program hosts Medical Skills Day
On Wednesday 11/20/24, our Medical Certificate Program hosted its 3rd Annual Medical Skills Day event in collaboration with Chapman University’s PA (Physician Associate/Assistant) Program.
Over 100 Beckman MCP Year 3 students (juniors and seniors) were taught 8 different medical skills by 45 Chapman University PA graduate students. This year, our 8 stations included “How to read X-rays, CPR training, Practice Injections, How to stop bleeding/pack wounds, Suturing, Medical Bedside Manner, How to take basic vitals, Human anatomy, How to use an EpiPen, etc.” We hope to continue to partner with Chapman University to host this event for many years to come to educate our Beckman students on these valuable skills in healthcare. A big thank you to our amazing Beckman PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) for sponsoring this entire event and for helping us purchase all of the supplies needed to train our students!
