EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to 8th Grade Science Teacher and MHS Drama Technical Director, Sean Baldwin, who is this week's Educator of the Week. Mr. Baldwin is dedicated to helping his students in and out of the classroom, and goes the extra mile each day to ensure that they are all in the best position to succeed. His classes are lively, dynamic, and always inquiry-based. Mr. Baldwin makes strong connections with his students, and he always makes the necessary time to support them.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Baldwin works tirelessly to make learning fun for the students and to allow students the opportunity to realize their strengths and to pursue their passions. Mr. Baldwin has served as class advisor, former co-Washington DC trip advisor, and teacher of many FBMS enrichment clubs, including the newly established Dungeons & Dragons Club. For the past 24 years, Mr. Baldwin has been the technical director of the MHS Drama Club. His amazing work has allowed generations of MHS students to shine on and behind the scenes. Mr. Baldwin has helped countless students find their voice and their passion through science and through the arts. He is stepping down from his drama post this year, and he will be very missed.
Mr. Baldwin is a shining example of an educator who is always there to support and bring out the best in his students. We congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.
Thank you, Mr. Baldwin!

DISTRICT-WIDE BELONGING TEAM
Our third Belonging Team Meeting took place Monday, March 3, 2025. We looked deeply at what is happening with belonging initiatives throughout the district and heard from some fabulous high school students who are starting a "Breaking Boundaries" club to work with elementary schools regarding social-emotional learning. We will continue to update the community on our progress. Here are some images from the third meeting:
SUPERINTENDENT'S STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL (SSAC)
Student voice in everything we do at Marshfield Public Schools is important and valued. To further student voice throughout the district, I am happy to announce the formation of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC). The SSAC meets with the Superintendent monthly, and Assistant Superintendents and other leaders (when they are available) to advise, to provide feedback, and to present viable solutions on District initiatives and programs.
Our first three meetings were wonderful. We began to formulate a student voice survey, created community agreements for our work, got to know each other better, and looked at the role of this important team. In our third meeting, with the high school and middle school students, we talked about our cell phone policies and the current implementation of those policies at the middle and the high school. In our fourth meeting, we talked about school pride and safety.
At our meeting this past Tuesday, our younger advisory council members worked with our middle and high school members to talk about ways student voice is being heard throughout the district and to brainstorm ways we can expand voice for all. Great job, students!
GREAT LEARNING HAPPENING THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT
Our Learning Walks this year will revolve around Deep Student Engagement, Task Development, and Learning Environment for Students. The District Leader established look-fors are inspired by Amy Berry and her book Reimagining Student Learning, From Disrupting to Driving. This is a multi-year focus, which will involve all stakeholders.
In a nutshell, we will focus on those elements in the classroom that move students from disrupting to driving learning, while also focusing on the development of strong tasks to engage the students within a culturally responsive climate that promotes inclusion.
These lookfors are being unwrapped at staff meetings across the district. This week we engaged in learning walks of Eames Way Elementary School.

MHS ATHLETICS
Spring Sports are off here at MHS. We currently have 408 students registered for Varsity and Sub-Varsity Teams and after navigating some early inclement weather, teams are finally getting outside and, on their fields and courts.
We are looking forward to a fun and entertaining Spring Season. Across Sports, many teams are returning players and looking to challenge again for both League Titles and Post-Season runs. Teams have begun to scrimmage with Baseball, Boys Lacrosse, Girls Lacrosse, Rugby and Softball either hosting or traveling to get in game shape.
Girls and Boys Tennis kick off the regular season with the Girls Team hosting Norwell this Friday afternoon and the Boys Team traveling over to Norwell. This will be a tough non-league match-up for both Teams as Norwell is a perennial powerhouse in the South Short League. Most other teams begin playing next week. Baseball, Girls and Boys Lacrosse and Softball all host games starting next Tuesday.
I Iook forward to sharing all the highlights and action as the Spring Season kicks off.
