Kindergarten Information
Need to know info!
Dear Kindergarten parents,
We have some special policies and procedures for our Kindergarten students, and we want to be sure to inform you about them.
Arriving on Harbor School Days
For our Kindergarteners, we ask that parents (or an older sibling) drop them off in the morning at the kindergarten door at the end of the children’s hallway in room 105. It is a good idea to come about 5 minutes early so you (or an older sibling) may sign your K student up for pizza at the front entry on their own order form. This helps our lunch coordinator know exactly how many slices of pizza to bring to the K rooms. You may pay the pizza attendant at the table before or after taking your student to class.
Picking up your Kindergarten student
If you’re picking up after the Kindergarten “block” of classes (2:00), your child will be waiting for you at the Kindergarten room. Otherwise, you may wait in the lobby to get them when the bell rings. Please remember classes actually end at 5 minutes BEFORE the hour (for example, 12:55, 1:55, 2:55).
Snack, Lunch, and Water bottles
Please send a non-twist top water bottle that your child can open and securely close on their own. Label with their name. The twist top water bottles often get knocked over during lunch and spill. Please always bring a water bottle for your child! The little ones get thirsty quickly and often!
Please package and label your child's lunch and snack items separately.
Change of Clothes
Things spill, kids get sticky, and occasionally a child will have an "accident." A change of clothing assures your child's comfort and saves you an emergency clothing run to the school during the day.
What to Bring to Kindergarten
Beginning a new school year is always an exciting time and a fun time for students to shop for school supplies! While we have all of our educational supplies ready to go, below is a short list of items that would help with the organization of your child’s school materials and help to keep a consistent line of communication between home and school.
Kindergarten School Supplies
*A backpack big enough to hold a pocket folder, a lunch box, a snack, and a change of clothes.
*A lunch box/bag to carry a daily snack/drink and/or lunch/drink. (If your child will be bringing a lunch to school, please package and label “snacks” separately from “lunch”).
*A sturdy 2-pocket folder
