- Coffee Hour with the Principal
- We will have Coffee Hour with the Principal on Tuesday, November 26th at 8am in the front office conference room.
- High Five: Sisters from El Salvador shine in academics and athletics at CHS
- Congratulations twin sisters Ashley and Hazel Martinez! Thank you to all the educators who support them as well as thanks to Amanda Alpert, Athletic Director, who leads our student/athletes!
- Student Attendance
I have outlined a few noteworthy revisions made to the Attendance Policy below. Additionally, please click here to read the revised policy in full. It is important to review the entire policy as it will be operational for the remainder of the school year.
Students will be allowed to have five excused absences per quarter, an increase from the three excused absences allowed in the previous policy.
A note signed by a parent or caregiver is still required for a student to receive an excused absence. In lieu of a note, parents unable to provide a note will have the option of calling the school to report an excused absence.
Students will receive a ten (10) point penalty in their average for any class in which they have three (3) or more unexcused absences. The previous policy dropped any grade affected by the Attendance Policy to a 60
For any student whose grade is impacted due to this policy, notification and access to this policy will be included with the student’s report card.
An Attendance Appeal Board has been created to review appeals denied by the Attendance Office.
- Open House
- We will have Open House for parents\guardians\teachers on Thursday, December 19th from 5pm to 7pm in the CHS Cafeteria. The Family Liaisons will provide more details.
I wish each of you a relaxing and restful break alongside your families and friends.
Warm regards, Obed

Student Spotlight
Thanks for the organizing efforts of the AVID and Early College programs at CHS, Ms. Boyd and Ms. Corbaci, heads of these programs.
An FBI field trip with students from the Forensic Science class at CHS was conducted on November 20th, 2024 Wednesday from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm, to the FBI Office in Chelsea. Four chaperons are Ms. Boyd, Mr. Yip, Ms. Grace and Mr. Caro.
Students arrived and passed through their security and arrived in a lecture room. Participating students were listening to a presentation by a special agent in charge of counter intelligence about how the FBI Evidence Response Team (ERT) conducted the collection of evidence in a CSI investigation. The presentation focused on the two types of evidence, Class Evidence and Individual Evidence. Two students wore a Tyvek suit and participated in the collection of the evidence. The FBI trip also introduced students to the job opportunities of professional positions, such as forensic chemist, special agent and a summer internship in FBI.
This field trip is our first one to the FBI office and we all hope to establish a relationship with them and make more field trips in the future possible.
High Five: Sisters from El Salvador shine in academics at CHS
The amazing story of Chelsea High School’s senior volleyball captains Ashley and Hazel Martinez was featured last night on WCVB Boston Channel 5! Featured on Channel Five's "High Five" series, watch to learn about the twin sisters' story, which began in El Salvador, and how they are leaving a lasting impact on the CHS community.

Notice of Searches
We are writing to let you know in advance that out of an abundance of caution, school administration may at times conduct random searches when students arrive at school. Providing a safe and secure learning environment is a top priority. These searches will help us maintain a safe school and an environment where students are free to focus on learning. As a part of our commitment to keeping our school community safe, we will continue to administer random searches.

Electric vehicle technicians Student Opportunity
An exciting opportunity for students interested in pursuing careers as electric vehicle (EV) technicians or in the broader automotive field. Please share the attached flyer with your juniors and seniors who may have an interest in these fields. While sophomores are also welcome to sign up, our primary focus is on engaging juniors and seniors. Link is available here as well
If students are curious about similar opportunities or want to learn more, they can fill out the interest form linked in the flyer. This will help us provide them with tailored resources and guidance.
Thank you for encouraging your students to explore these potential career paths! Feel free to reach out with any questions.
Sincerely,
Carina Lawrence, M.Ed.
