MPVA Weekly Update

Happy Tuesday Greyhound Family,

First, I would like to thank all of our parents and community members who attended our first Coffee With The Principal today. We had a wonderful turnout, filled with great questions, quality feedback, and support to improve our community. I look forward to our future meetings of collaboration. The MPVA Counseling Department is hosting its first Suicide Awareness and Prevention 1K Walk, "LAPS FOR LIFE - No One Walks Alone". All Physical Education students will participate in the 1K, Monday, September 23rd and Tuesday, September 24, during their PE class period. A brief talk on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention will precede the walk. Parents (PIP certified) and other staff are welcome to attend the walk in support of our students. Our partners for this event are the MPVA Athletics Department and the Houston PD's Office of Community Affairs Department.

The MPVA Counseling Department

Communication Application ( high school credit) students completed a personal narrative assignment. They picked a person/group from our school community and surprised them with a Random Act of Kindness. They then wrote a speech on why they chose the person/group, how they surprised them and what their reaction was. Students had fun helping teachers tidy their rooms, picking up trash after lunch, surprising classmates with positive notes and even putting gift baskets together!

There is a $75 registration fee, This year’s rate is a $180 flat fee per month that includes both morning and after care.
