Art Update!
🍭Kindergarten learned how to draw spirals, a great way to introduce them to design and shape concepts, while drawing a big lollipop. Next they created their lollipops in 3D using model magic.
🌮First grade used their creativity and newly learned paper folding techniques to create colorful and fun tacos! This hands-on project not only introduced them to the basics of folding paper but also allowed them to explore their fine motor skills and understanding of shapes. They had fun experimenting with different textures, colors, and layers to make each taco unique.
🍕Second grade created larger than life slices of pizza inspired by the work of artist Claes Oldenburg. They worked on creating toppings by using paper folding and layering techniques. They each created a unique and colorful pizza sculpture that demonstrating their growth and understanding of 3D art. The vibrant, oversized pizzas were a great example of how simple materials can be transformed into fun and imaginative works of art!
🍩Third Grade is currently working on donut sculptures. The students began by forming the base of their donuts using newspaper and tin foil. Then wrapped and molded newspaper around the foil to create the round shape and thickness of the donut. This layering process helped them understand how to build depth and dimension in a sculpture. The students will use colorful materials and paint to represent the icing, sprinkles, and even unique flavor details.
🍪Fourth grade is working on making Ice Cream Cookie sandwiches! This project encourages them to tap into their imaginations as they design unique ice cream flavors, cookie combinations, and even branded ice cream companies. Throughout the project, they art honing their skills in paper mache. They are also using their design and creative thinking skills by choosing colors, textures, and flavors that reflected their unique personalities and preferences.
🍣Fifth grade is working on combining sculpture and painting to make their own delicious looking paper pulp sushi! Students will use paper towel rolls as the base for their sushi rolls, cutting and shaping them to form the structure. Then, they add paper pulp around the rolls to mimic the texture of rice. Students will be introduced to the double loading technique, where they loaded their paintbrush with two different colors of paint at once—one on each side of the brush. This technique allows them to create a more blended and dynamic effect, perfect for painting the delicate cherry blossoms on their sushi plates.
🍰Sixth Grade is working on their cake sculptures inspired by artist Peter Anton. They are learning how to create realistic cake sculptures using an underlying cardboard structure followed by layering plaster strips. The project not only allows students to experiment with sculpting and layering techniques but also encourages them to use their creativity to add decorative details, like frosting and fruit, to make their cakes look even more delicious!
