This Week at OHS...
4th Graders Dream Big for 2025!
Science, Snowflakes, and SEL, Oh My!
As they cut their designs, they explored the concept of physical change—transforming the paper without altering its substance.
Just like a snowflake, you are special and unique! This display combines science, math, art, and kindness, reminding us that every change, big or small, helps create something beautiful.
5th Grade Enrichment: Exploring, Solving, and Learning!
From storytelling and teamwork to critical thinking and health education, they’re expanding their knowledge in fun and engaging ways!
Library: Students explore themes of friendship and growth while reading Crash by Jerry Spinelli with Mrs. Mirabito.
Music: Working together to solve the "Where’s the Baton?" escape room, students decipher music clues to help Dr. Leahy recover the missing baton.
Health: In Ms. Guertin’s health class, students worked together to get "Fooducated" by analyzing food labels and giving everyday items a nutrition grade.
6th Grade Starts 2025 Strong!
With just two days back, our 6th graders wasted no time diving into engaging lessons across math, science, and ELA to kick off the new year!
Math with Mr. Letendre
Tackling algebraic expressions, students used PEMDAS to sharpen their order of operations skills.
Science with Ms. Jacobsen
Exploring celestial alignment, students visualized the moon’s appearance from Earth using Pear Deck in an OpenSciEd lesson.
ELA with Mrs. Letourneau
Inspired by the graphic novel The Secret Science Alliance and the Copycat Crook, students pondered what drives the most amazing inventions.

Help Needed in the Library!
Mrs. Mirabito is seeking volunteers to assist in the library! Initial training sessions will take place in the mornings, but scheduling can be more flexible after that. This is a wonderful opportunity for grandparents, retirees, or anyone looking to make a meaningful contribution. As an added bonus, seniors can qualify for up to $750 off their property taxes through a special arrangement with the town hall.
If you're interested or know someone who might be, please reach out to Mrs. Mirabito at lauramirabito@oldrochester.org.
