Kathy Powell, Program Director for the Parents Offering Parents Information & Networking(POPIN) a program of Family Network on Disabilities (FND)
Bio
Kathy Powell has been an active member of the disability community for over ten years. She is a parent of a child affected by Autism and considers it a privilege to be able to serve as an advocate to families, their children, and individuals with disabilities. As the Program Director of the Parent of the Panhandle Information Network, (POPIN) Kathy provides training, information, and technical assistance to equip families of children birth through twenty-six to advocate successfully. In helping families better understand special education processes and best practices, families learn how to increase student achievement with effective parental involvement. Kathy’s most rewarding part of her job is to share resources on the importance of a rich, active life for children and youth with disabilities, participating as full members of their schools and communities.

Parents Offering Parents Information & Networking (POPIN), a program of Family Network on Disabilities (FND), is funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). We provide parent training & information (PTI) services to the North Florida region. (Escambia to Brevard County) This program helps to ensure that parents of children with a full range of disabilities have the training and information they need to prepare their children for school and lead productive, independent lives to the fullest extent possible.
