National Fitness Month - May
May is National Fitness Month. Mr. Bohannon wanted to share some ideas for staying active.
-------------------------
A Note to Students from Mr. Bohannon
Hey everybody! I've got some facts about planks! And a workout! The month of May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. Just a reminder that you should be getting physical activity daily! Have you ever tried to plank? Here are the benefits:
- Full-Core Activation: Planks engage not just the abs (rectus abdominis) but also the deeper core muscles like the transverse abdominis, obliques, and erector spinae.
- Spinal Stability: Strengthening the core through planks supports the spine and improves posture, reducing the risk of back pain and injury.
- Functional Strength: Planks mimic the core engagement used in daily activities and sports, making them great for overall functional fitness.
- Low Impact: Unlike crunches or sit-ups, planks are joint-friendly and minimize the risk of strain on the lower back or neck.
- Scalable & Varied: Planks can be modified for beginners (on knees) or advanced (side planks, extended planks, with leg lifts, etc.).
- Time-Efficient: Even 30–60 seconds of planking can activate the entire core, especially when done with proper form.
Try out this 8-minute plank workout: INTENSE Total Plank Workout - 8 minutes for toned abs and a strong core! Tone your back, shoulders, glutes, and abs with multiple plank variations in one workout. The best plank workout to carve your stomach and reveal your six-pack. This ultimate plank workout covers 30-second plank holds for 8 straight minutes. You may be feeling this one for days.
Stay active and hydrate!!!

Welcome Class of 2029!
We are in the process of enrolling soon-to-be new 9th grade students for Fall 2025! There is a great deal of excitement around welcoming the next group of students into the IAM Family. Shadow Days are scheduled and the annual freshmen welcome event will take place in June.
IAM Student in the News!
An IAM junior, Nethanya F., is having an impact in her community. "Warren takes step toward bringing first microforest to life: Fonseka is an advocate for preserving and improving the environment in urban spaces."

On April 3rd, Mr. Garcia organized a field trip to the National Association of College Admissions Counselors' annual college fair at the Novi Showplace. This was a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about over 130 colleges and universities. Representatives were available to share information with the students as well as to answer questions. It was a great experience for juniors as they consider summer planning for college application season that begins when students return to school in August. NACAC College Fair Link
