Thanksgiving Messageπ¦
This Thanksgiving, let us each remember all the good things and people who have come into our lives, as there are so many things for which to be grateful. Let us focus on thanking each one who has helped us, and give generously to all those who are in need. May we all have a renewed spirit of gratitude.
From all of us at Swanson, wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving!
With sincerest gratitude to our wonderful school community,
Dr. Lopez

Insights
At SWIS, we understand that sometimes our students have friendship struggles both in and/or outside of school. Most often, home is their safe space to discuss these issues with those they love and trust. Talk with your child regularly about friendships; you are their first line of communication, and we are 'in addition to.' Use audio stories, books, and your personal experiences as conversation starters to point out what good and healthy friendships do and do not look like. Please see below for some suggested Do's and Don'ts during conversations.

Words to Ponder π€
"A Dish of Ice Cream"
In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.
βHow much is an ice cream sundae?β
β50 cents,β replied the waitress.
The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied a number of coins in it.
βHow much is a dish of plain ice cream?β he inquired. Some people were now waiting for a table, and the waitress was a bit impatient.
β35 cents,β she said brusquely.
The little boy again counted the coins. βIβll have the plain ice cream,β he said.
The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table, and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier, and departed.
When the waitress came back, she began wiping down the table and then swallowed hard at what she saw.
There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were 15 cents β her tip.
