The PTO will have Ranger Day for students interested in purchasing items ranging from $1 - $5 on during 6th period. Ranger Day will be by grade levels during 6th period. March 27th will be 6th grade's Ranger Day. March 28th will be 7th grade's Ranger Day. March 29th will be 8th grade's Ranger Day.

- Updated policies and procedures for all middle school athletic events can be found above in an attachment. A parent or guardian is required for entrance to events.
- Stay informed of important information and upcoming events through our social media at either Facebook or Instagram. Links can be found below.
- Daily Bell Schedule is from 8:10 am - 3:10 pm
- Students can enter the school starting at 7:40 am
- At 8:10 am students need a parent or guardian to check them in at the attendance window
- After 2:45 pm students can not be checked out
- Students must be picked up by 3:35 pm
- Parent conferences can be scheduled by the parent or teacher upon request. Please email the teacher to set up a parent conference.
- FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) meets every Wednesday morning in room 705 from 7:15 am - 8:00 am. Students can be dropped off in the back bus loop and enter the middle wing of the building. FCA is open to all students and not just athletes.
- Orchestra meets every Thursday afterschool in room 505 from 3:20 pm - 4:30 pm. Anyone who plays a string instrument is invited to attend even if not enrolled in orchestra this semester.
VMMS will host a parent engagement night on March 21st at 6:00 pm regarding the upcoming GMAS state assessments. This will be an informational night you do not want to miss.

We capped off a great I Love My Future Week with a spectacular Career Day Event! Presenters included Columbus Fire Department, Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbus River Dragons, Aflac, motivational speakers, realtors, correction officers, Columbus State University, restaurant owners, construction companies, Cascade Hills Church, environmental scientist, healthcare workers, pharmacists, content creators, coaches, bankers, authors, marketing managers, entrepreneurs, chefs, lawyers, Grand Canyon University, and scientists! Students were able to experience a wide variety of diverse careers throughout the day! Thank you to Mrs. Wright for planning and organizing this amazing event for all of our students!
Veterans Memorial students had the opportunity to experience two amazing presentations during February. Toma the Mime presented to students on theatre arts performance and written expression. Dave Holland presented to students about social emotional learning, music, and making wise choices. Both Toma the Mime and Dave Holland are a part of FabArts partnership with Muscogee County School District to incorporate learning through the fine arts.
Columbus State University's Divine Nine attended lunch periods throughout the day to socialize with students and peform multiple dances. Thank you to Mrs. Sanders for arranging this for our staff and students!

HOSA students have had a busy February. They were able to attend the HOSA State Leadership Conference in Atlanta and CTSO’s Day at the Capitol. Veterans Memorial's HOSA was recognized at the state level for chapter growth! Shoutout to Mrs. Kelly for developing our HOSA program from the ground up in less than a year! RLTW
Congratulations to Mrs. Shaheer for being selected as our February Teacher of the Month!Mrs. Shaheer is a key member of our VMMS team. She serves as team 7-1’s lead, a member of the leadership team, chair of the Black History Month committee, sponsor of mock trials, and assistant cheerleading coach to name a few! Her students noted that she is caring, motivating, and is able to connect with them.
Members from our Rowdy Rangers Robotics Team were invited to participate in the MCSD Robotics Showcase at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts!Students demonstrated their coding and robotics skills for the community and other schools!
Congratulations to Veterans Memorial’s PBIS team for working diligently to earn an achievement level of operational! The PBIS team at VMMS is led by Mrs. DuBose! PBIS is a district wide initiative focused on improving a school’s overall climate.
Our Lady Rangers Flag Football team is off to a great start! They are 4-0 so far on the season and have had a shutout in every game! They will close out the season on March 6th at Northside High School. Come out and cheer on the Lady Rangers as they seek to stay undefeated!
The VMMS Choir had the opportunity to perform for The Legacy Reserve and their residents. The students and residents throughly enjoyed the time together. Great job! Thank you to Mrs. Fortson for organizing this opportunity for our students!
Veterans Memorial culminated a month long celebration of Black History Month with a phenomenal program. The program featured keynote speaker Columbus City Manager Isaiah Hugley, Attorney Anthony Johnson receiving the Heritage Award, Hardaway High School’s JROTC led by four former VMMS students, and multiple performances by the VMMS fine arts department. Thank you to the Black History Committee led by Mrs. Shaheer for planning and organizing today’s special program. “But it really doesn’t matter with me now, because I’ve been to the mountaintop … I’ve seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
