We are aware that some people did not receive a text message for the weather delay & cancellation on Wednesday. We believe this is a a cell phone carrier issue described below as we do not have any FACTS error codes on our end.

One suggestion to get texts in the future is to save the SMS text alert number, 317065, as a contact to avoid it being seen as SPAM.

"The acronym SHAFT, which stands for Sex, Hate, Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco, is monitored and enforced by the CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association). While SHAFT content has been heavily regulated in SMS marketing for years, the CTIA tightened its rules surrounding this content in May 2021. Cell carriers such as AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile etc. are required to enforce during mass SMS marketing attempts because of the SHAFT regulation created to protect consumers. This regulation can also affect the success of your Parent Alert text messages. Typically, we've seen the enforcement of this regulation come into effect when Parent Alert texts are sent to larger audiences. In the eyes of the cell phone carriers, they'll categorize an alert going out to a large audience as an SMS marketing attempt and the SHAFT regulation can be enforced. The enforcement of this regulation can vary from one cell phone carrier to the next."

It's that time of the year to be sure you know how where to check for weather alerts that delay or cancel school.

1. St. Michael School will send a text alert and an email from FACTS. Be sure your cell phone and email are updated in the system. (Logging in details are in the Parent Resource section of every newsletter)

2. St. Michael School will post to the school FaceBook page

3. Findlay City Schools/St. Michael will be posted to WFIN radio stations and on local news stations such as Channel 13 ABC and Channel 11 CBS

4. You can register to received an additional alerts from WFIN at https://delays.wfin.com/

SMS will be offering a Yearbook Club for students to help guide and create our school yearbook. This will be an after school program led by Mrs. Brumbaugh and the group will be capped at 16 students. Students should be highly committed to attending the meetings.

Dates (Second Thursdays starting in January): 1/9, 2/13, 3/13, 4/10, 5/8 (more possible if needed to complete the yearbook)

As you complete sports physicals for our athletes, you will upload the documents to your child's Final Forms portal. Completed forms should not come to school or be turned into coaches.

All students who plan to play a sport at St. Michael School will need a sports physical. Please take all paper work to be signed by a physician and then upload to Final Forms. Physicals must be completed before the athlete will be able to begin practices or play in games with the team.

Findlay City Schools have partnered with Sodexo to provide a hot lunch option to our KR - 8th grade students.

1. The meal cost will be $3.25/milk a la carte $0.55
   

2. You can find the lunch menu for our building here, or download the Nutrislice app! These menus can be translated into multiple languages by clicking the sidebar on the right.

3. Complete the free/reduced lunch application on PaySchools!

4. Load money on your student’s lunch account within PaySchools. You will need your student ID which can be found by signing into FACTS. Information on signing in is found in the FACTS section of the newsletter.

Shopping for Dollars orders can be placed online, through the RaiseRight app, or through school. School orders are placed on the second and fourth MONDAYS of the month August - May. Order are usually here for distribution on Thursdays.
