How to Change Your Status from DE to Degree-Seeking
Change your major in your Atlas account.
- Log into your Atlas account.
- Click the tab titled Students.
- Under Student Forms, select Admissions & Records dropdown menu.
- Click on the link titled Change of Program/Major Form.
- Click the box for Change Program/Major.
- Be sure your name, date of birth, and VID# are filled in.
- Under Primary, choose the program/major you want.
- At the bottom of the page, click the small check box and click Next.
- Input your first name and last name.
- Take a picture, screenshot, or save the PDF for your records.
Update your Florida Residency Status.
- Scroll down and follow the Step 2: Proving Florida residency below for completing your Florida residency documentation.
Complete Your FAFSA Application.

Step 1: Complete the Valencia College Application.
Application Status
- Click on the Apply to Valencia College button below.
- Click on Apply Here under Domestic Students.
- Click Sign Up to create an application account.
- You will receive an email to create your password. Create your password from your phone.
Payment
- Your application isn't complete until you pay the application fee of $35 using a debit or credit card.
- Take a picture of your receipt for confirmation of payment and application submission.
- Be sure you prove Florida Residency, or your tuition will increase. This is done in your application account.
Step 2: Proving Florida Residency.
- Your parent/or legal guardian will be the one to establish residency for you. Select one parent and all of the documents used must be from that one parent.
- If the parent has a different last name from you, you need to provide your birth certificate.
- If the parent has the same last name as you, you do not need the birth certificate.
- To establish residency your parent has to have lived in Florida for 12 consecutive months.
- You need a clear picture of your parent/legal guardian's Florida driver's license or ID.
- You may choose to use the parent's Florida voter registration or Florida vehicle registration.
- If your parent/legal guardian cannot find their Florida voter registration, you or the parent can find it here, as long as you have the date of birth and correct name: https://registration.elections.myflorida.com/checkvoterstatus.
- Log into your Atlas Account.
- Click on the Students tab.
- Under Student Forms, select Admissions & Records dropdown menu.
- Click the link for Florida Residency.
- The first section of the form refers to you.
- The claimant refers to the parent you are using to prove residency.
- You will need to upload clear photos of the documents you are using.
- Save a screenshot or PDF of the form when completed for your records.
Step 3: Complete your FAFSA Application.
- Create FSA IDs: http://fsaid.ed.gov
- Create an FSA ID for yourself.
- Create an FSA ID for one parent.
- Your parent will have an FSA ID already if they at least started college in the United States, or if an older sibling attended college.
- You will access to your parents' taxes, your taxes if you filed taxes, your SSN, your date of birth, your parents' SSNs, your parents' dates of birth, and household size.

How to Check Your Atlas Account for High School Transcript
- Log into your Atlas account.
- Click on the "Students" tab.
- In the middle of the page in the "My Transcripts" box, click on High School Transcripts.
- Y indicates your transcript has been processed.

Step 6: How do I know I've been accepted to Valencia College?
Step 7: Create Your Student Atlas Account.
- Click on the "Atlas Account" button below to go to the Atlas website.
- Click on "Sign Up for an Account".
- Click the checkbox to accept the privacy conditions.
- Complete the requested information, using your VID#.
- Wait approximately five minutes before trying to log into your Atlas Account.
Step 8: Register for New Student Orientation.
- Log into your Atlas account.
- On the Atlas main page, click the New Student Orientation box on the left side of your Atlas account.
- Part 1 Orientation: You need to watch the video tutorials.
- Part 2 Orientation. You need to register to complete an advising appointment.
- You cannot register for classes until your orientation is completed.
- Check your Atlas email leading up to the day of your orientation date and time slot to receive any material needed for your orientation.
- Be sure to have a camera on your laptop so that you can complete your Zoom meeting with your Valencia advisor.
Step 9: Check Financial Aid Status & Submit Required Documents.
- Your FAFSA application for 2023-2024 should be completed.
- Check your financial aid status and view if you're missing any important documentation in your Atlas account.
- Use the red button above for directions on how to check your financial aid status and eligibility in your Atlas account.

Step 11: Ensure Your Classes Are Paid & Purchase Your Books.
In your Detail Schedule, there is a link at the top of the schedule that will directly take you to the campus online bookstore. This will get the books you need for your classes. You can have the books shipped directly to your home for convenience.
Step 12: Get Your Student ID & Parking Permit.
How do I get my student ID?
Student ID cards can be obtained in the Security office on any Campus, except Downtown Campus, once you have registered and paid for your classes. Downtown Campus (DTC) students obtain student ID cards at Card Services Downtown located in the Communication and Media Building near the front lobby. The first student ID card is free. Replacement fee is $5 at all campuses except DTC which has a $15 fee. You will need your student ID card to access campus services such as the Library and Testing Center. Student IDs can be used for library access, testing purposes and discounts in the community.
