Become a Volunteer Today!
DPS uses VOLY, a volunteer management system, to post volunteer opportunities and find volunteers.
To volunteer on one of our campuses, you will need to create a VOLY account by visiting https://dickinson.voly.org.
Once you create an account, you will fill out the following:
- DPS Volunteer Application
- Volunteer Confidentiality Rules
- 2022-2023 Orientation Video
- Volunteer Handbook
- Background Check Consent
- DPS Board Policy requires that each volunteer undergoes a background check before working with students. You will be prompted to complete the background check during your VOLY account creation process. Keep an eye on your inbox for your background check approval (the process can take up to 2-3 days).
- Once approved, you will be able to sign up directly for volunteer opportunities through the VOLY platform!
Thank you for your desire to volunteer with us! Volunteers are an integral part of what we do every day in DPS.
Lincoln Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is comprised of families who advise and collaborate to improve the education, confidence, and social outcomes of each student served by Lincoln Elementary.
Join PAC to:
- Be the voice that represents the wishes and concerns of the families of Lincoln.
- To solicit observations from other patrons of Lincoln, thus widening the scope of communication between school and community.
- To serve as a sounding board for the school and its staff by providing counsel regarding projects and activities.
- To serve as an informed body with greater insights into the school.
- Give back to our school!
What does PAC do for our school?
That's a great question!
At these meetings, we value your input as we discuss events/activities around the school, changes that need or can be made, and various other topics with Principal Tammy Peterson. Your ideas and suggestions are integral to the school's operations.
We understand that members might have to work, so our meetings are held in person at Lincoln with a Zoom option on the second Thursday of the month from 12 - 12:40 pm. Zoom meetings allow flexibility and convenience, as most can visit during lunch.
The best way to stay current on what is happening at Lincoln is to attend monthly PAC meetings.

Sick? Stay home from school and notify the office!
Children don't learn very well or get much out of school when they aren't feeling well. It truly is in the child's - and their classmates'- best interest to keep children home when they are sick.
Cindy Gellner, M.D.
Lunch Visitors
If you would like to have lunch with your child we would love to have you.
Here is the procedure:
Please check in the main office to get a visitor badge.
Please bring your packed peanut-free lunch with you. We will not be serving visitors a hot lunch.
Please do not bring food from outside restaurants, as this creates issues with our other students.
Please do not bring soda.
Students will go to recess independently after lunch. Thank you for understanding that parents are not allowed on the playground.

NWEA Testing
NWEA testing supports students and educators by creating assessments that measure growth and proficiency—and provide insights to help tailor student instruction.
The most important thing you can do for your child during testing is to make sure that he/she comes to school on the days the class is testing. Please avoid scheduling appointments as much as possible during this testing period and if you plan a vacation please let the teacher know in advance if it is over the testing days. Please make sure students have a working pair of headphones for the test! They can be purchased at the office for $6.
Testing Dates: September 10th - September 24th
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
In the event of a crisis situation, please be assured that our school has an emergency management plan in place and that school, district, and emergency staff will respond accordingly. We need your support and ask that you rely on communications from the school district. The first and official way for us to contact you in an emergency is using our automated calling system (Powerschool). We will also use our district website and social media accounts, and local news outlets to communicate information. It is very important that you understand that in a crisis situation, school phones are needed to manage the situation and lines must remain open. Calling could also put students and employees at risk in an intruder situation (if they did not have time to turn down the ringer, your call could potentially give away their hiding spot). You must also know that you need to wait for instructions on student release and do not go to the school. Emergency personnel responding to the situation need the area clear to do their job. After emergency responders determine that a safe student release is possible, arrangements will be made to reunite children with their families. In a reunification situation, you will be told where and when to go, and you will need photo identification.
In the aftermath of a crisis, it is important to remain calm as children are greatly influenced by their family’s sense of well-being, and anything that families can do to reassure students will be helpful. At the same time, families need to be compassionate listeners when their children speak of the crisis.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me.
