®️April SEL Trait - Empathy®️
Good afternoon Riverton families!
As we gear up for Spring Break I wanted to take a moment and highlight three activites from the last three weeks of school that I have noticed as we recognize and celebrate Autism Acceptance Month.
These three activities are just a spotlight of the many activities our students and staff are engaged in this month:
Light It Up Blue: Students and staff dressed in blue to raise awareness and kick off Autism Acceptance Month.
"All My Stripes" - Students in Kindergarten through 4th grade engaged and discussed in an age appropriate read aloud and activity focusing on Autism and acceptance of others.
"Lucas the Lion Loves the Tiny Talker" Our preschool students listened to this story to teach children people can communicate in different ways.
I look forward to seeing everyone tonight at our Spring Concert!
With gratitude,
Mr. Zagorski

Riverton School News & Updates
Riverton School 3rd Grader's Poem Featured on a Radio Interview
To culminate one of the lessons our students wrote poems and shared them both locally and beyond! One student, June Donnelly's poem was recognized and read on WNYC radio. Congrats June! I included her full poem in a post below. Mrs. Penwell was interviewed by WNYC in recognition of poetry month and had the opportunity to read June's poem to the world!
Click here to listen to the radio interview and hear June's poem.
Shout out to our team that continues to think outside the box and bring real world learning connections to our students, what a great example of learning in action! Woot Woot!
Spring Concert a Success!
Today during the school day our students participated and observed our Spring Concert. Today is a day we celebrate the musical journey of our students from kindergarten through eighth grade. Music education is vital for creativity, cognitive growth, and teamwork. Tonight, you'll see the results of their dedication!
A special thanks to our music teacher, Mrs. Frankenfield for her inspiring guidance. When you are at the show tonight, expect a variety of performances, showcasing the diverse talents of our students. Caregiver support, which makes events like this possible, is greatly appreciated.
Have you Seen the Rare Loof Lirpa in Riverton?
Did you also know? Shout out to Mrs. Vasile for taking her students through an imaginative journey in search of the fictitious Loof Lirpa on April Fool's Day. Students were engaged in a lesson that involved movement, discovery, and collaboration. I had the opportunity to informally observe the conclusion of their mission and I experienced numerous smiles and engagement! Great job by all!
