PARTICIPATE 20% BULL, DON'T DO IT!
May 8th, 2024
Assistant Principals Are On The Chopping Block, Your Position May Be Next!!
The email below as you can see was sent out by me on January 13, 2023. It was a message to let you all know that some aspects of the Blue Print was not going to beneficial to school administrators.
It is really part of a bigger plan to get rid of assistant principal positions out of the budget and off the books. Some of your top associate superintendents have been bold enough to ask me, "what are we gonna do about these career assistant principals?" Right to my face, they have said to me, "some of these men are a problem," as if they want help from the union to take away your profession, presence and voice. That's not to say that assistant principals are all men, but most of the principals surely are not.
Maryland will be the test and if we fail it here in PGCPS, we will set the stage for the ILT (Instructional Lead Teacher) position to replace the 500 A.P. positions in PGCPS and thousands across the country. Why do they believe this to be such a game changing move? They are really trying us and hoping that they can convince you to drink it all, if you swallow slow enough.
Right now they are changing their rhetoric about TEACHING 20 % of your time to PARTICIPATE 20 % of your time. DON'T FALL FOR IT!!!! Ask Dr. Murphy-Baldwin and Segun Eubanks how much of their time do they plan to PARTICIPATE. The answer is ZERO!!
In the A.P. meeting they had two days ago where they started trying to convince you with a smile that PARICIPATING 20% (teaching) is going to make the difference, was really trying to prepare you for their JULY 1st IMPLEMENTATION of you all going back to the classroom, one small SIP at a time!
Why do the powers that be believe getting rid of Assistant Principals or putting them back in the classroom is going to move instruction? It's probably because the people that are trying to sell you this BULL, have never taught, much less been an administrator on your level.
Isn't it funny that the people who always know what's best for change, are always ones who have never been in the position before, or had some easy situation, at some easy little school for five minutes before they climbed the ladder to the top? Now is not the time for us to sit back and DRINK THE KOOL-AID. Stay tuned, because this will only get worse if we stand for it!!
They may smile in your face and have you thinking you are in the click, but what you gonna do when they come for you? Today it's assistant principals that are on the frontline, but this union is fighting every day for Community School Coordinators that are under attack, H.R. Partners that are under attack, and administrators from O.E.P. to ISSC that are being abused, harrassed and bullied on a daily basis.
I don't own the rights to the clips used in this message, they are purely use to help provoke some thought.
We must STAND UNITED!!

To: ASASP Union <asaspunion@asasp.org>
ATTENTION ALL:
Supervisors, Administrators, Principals, Assistant Principals, Members of ASASP,
DO NOT DRINK THE BLUE KOOL-AID (Maryland Blueprint for Education). The BLUEPRINT IS ALL ABOUT TEACHERS AND THAT IS NOT FAIR AT ALL.....
PLEASE DON'T GET IT TWISTED, this is not just about principals and assistant principals. Your office and workplace will be impacted and your support is needed.
Whatever your title is, and whoever you are or think you are, if you are a member of this union, I am talking to you this morning!!!
It is time that we STAND TOGETHER against the implementation of the Maryland BluePrint for Education. Your voice must be heard, your presence must be felt and we must not be DIVIDED.
Your plates and cups runneth over, but yet they continue to pile it on and fill your cups.
If you like it and/or you're afraid to stand up for your rights, your sanity, your health and fair labor practices in your workplace then go ahead DRINK IT, LISTEN TO THEIR LIES AND THE POSITIVE SPIN (GRAVY/SUGAR) THEY PUT ON IT!
How can you run your school or office UNDERSTAFFED and they act like it's ok and/or there's nothing they can do.....BULL.
Under the Blueprint Principals and Assistant Principals will be REQUIRED TO:
Teach and be the teacher of record,
Do grades,
Keep up with attendance,
Plan lessons,
Prepare progress reports,
Submit report cards, etc., ect., ect., on top of EVERYTHING ELSE with LITTLE or NO COMPENSATION unlike teachers who get paid for breathing these days.
If they tell you that you won't have to do these things, just go along with it quietly and find out the hard way!
If you are ready to STAND IN SOLIDARITY to have your voices heard because your office, your school, your departments are understaffed, overworked, required to work after hours, disregarded, bullied and disrespected,
DO YOUR HOMEWORK:
Send me a separate, individual email paragraph to jeffery.parker@asasp.org letting me know in 75 words or less that YOU WILL NOT DRINK THE BLUE KOOL-AID and what YOU THINK we should do to have our voices heard in Annapolis, as well as Upper Marlboro.
This assignment is due by Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Your response or lack thereof, will help shape the direction we move in as a UNION.
I am looking for 1000 emails over the next few days, SPEAK NOW OR FOREVER HOLD YOUR PEACE!!!!
