Quote of the Week-Come to the library to make a guess.
May Day-May 1st
May Day is an official holiday in 66 countries. Even though May Day was started in the United States in response to the worker's rights movement, it is rarely celebrated here. In response to the Pullman Strike in 1894, President Grover Cleveland moved the celebration of worker's rights to Labor Day in September. President Dwight D. Eisenhower attempted to put an equal emphasis on May Day in 1958, like Labor Day, but the holiday did not take off.

Land Acknowledgment
The Kumeyaay-Ipai Interpretive Center of Pauwai (Poway) is a five acre site rich in the local history of the Kumeyaay-Ipai Indian tribes. Follow the trails past ramadas, interpretive signage, native gardens and a replica of an 'ewaa (native Kumeyaay house). Morteros (grinding stones) left by the original Kumeyaay inhabitants still remain on this historic site. Also visit the Education Center to view artifacts and other interesting historical items and photos.
