The candy is donated to various Central Ohio agencies and nonprofits that address food insecurity. Questions or donation requests for a particular charity/group can be sent to Mrs. Caruso at scaruso@uaschools.org
Picture Retakes
If your child got their picture taken in September, their picture packet will be sent home any day now. You can also look at their pictures at hrimaging.com.
Picture retake day is Thursday, November 2nd. If your child has not gotten their picture taken, please be sure to remind them to dress their best, and get their picture taken on the 2nd. There will be reminders to the teachers that day, on when to send students to the photographer.
If your child needs their picture retaken, please have them bring the original picture packet with them, to give to the photographer.
To purchase pictures, please go to shop.hrimaging.com.
Field trip and other class event photos
We are grateful to the parent volunteers who make field trips and other special events during the school day possible for our students. The district does ask that volunteers and chaperones limit any photos taken during a school-day activity to photos of their own students. This will help us ensure we are following the wishes of all parents and guardians regarding the use of their student’s image. We thank you in advance for your understanding, cooperation and willingness to support our schools.
Smartwatches
For Students - Wireless Usage/iPhones/Gizmos:
As smartwatches become more common among students, parents have asked about settings that might reduce the risk of the device causing a distraction during school. Here are links to information about school-time settings for two devices we see here at school, the Apple watch and the Gizmo watch. We kindly ask that students use these settings. Please know we will always call you or allow your child to call you during the day, if needed.
Scholastic Book Fair
Dear Families:
Good news! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. Every purchase at the fair benefits our school.
Our book fair will take place from Friday, October 27 until Friday, November 3rd, during school hours in our media center. From October 27 - October 31, students will have an opportunity to preview the books available. From November 1 - November 3rd, students will have the opportunity to purchase books.
While we will accept cash, checks, and credit cards, parents can set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. It’s a safer way to purchase as students don’t have to carry cash to school. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.
Our school book fair is for students only and is only open during school hours, but parents can shop from home at our Scholastic Book Fair! Online shopping begins October 24. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Every online purchase will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:

Thanksgiving Break Nutrition Support
Update: Thanksgiving Break Nutrition Support
Upper Arlington Schools is partnering with community members who have offered to provide nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack foods for Upper Arlington students during the five days when school will not be in session over Thanksgiving break (November 22 - 26). The food will be provided at no cost to district families experiencing food insecurity and would benefit from additional food.
Due to a recent increase in requests, the deadline to sign up has been extended. To sign up for this one-time program, families should complete this form by the end of the day on Tuesday, October 31st. Please include information about each child you would like to receive food. The school district will keep the information you provide in the form confidential.
After the registration window closes, you will receive an order number allowing you to pick up the food at a designated location in Upper Arlington on either Monday, November 20 or Tuesday, November 21. If you cannot come to one of the pickup locations, arrangements can be made to deliver the food.
Please contact Kristyn Anderson in the district office with questions about this one-time program at kmanderson@uaschools.org.

Composting
Composting in the cafeteria is officially underway and has been a success, thanks to our parent volunteers! Volunteers are in the cafeteria to engage with students, ensure tables are clean between lunch periods, and be compost champions. This means helping students find the right bins for trash and food waste, taking buckets to the compost bins (outside) when they're full, and securing lids at the end of your shift. Here is more info. Use this link to sign-up.
Election Day Bake Sale
We are gearing up for Election Day on Tuesday, November 7; please use this link to contribute or sign-up.
