Dear School Community,

With the first six weeks of school behind us - the school year is in full swing. Our schools are filled with classrooms of students that are busy learning with and from one another. The teachers and staff members are offering experiences and opportunities that allow students to engage more deeply in their learning. While this is happening, old and new friendships are developing between students. As the school year marches on - our teachers and students will continue to build on their early accomplishments as they pursue their academic goals. The stage has been set for a successful school year ahead!

Recently, the MCAS results from the 2022-2023 school year were publicly released. The parents and guardians of students that participated in MCAS testing last year recently received the results of this assessment. Additionally, the school administration will present the key findings and action plans during school committee meetings scheduled in October and November. The school administration recently began conducting Learning Walks in the schools. So far, we have visited ORR High School and Rochester Memorial School. Highlights included seeing engaging and interactive classroom activities, witnessing student voice in the classroom activities and positive relationships between students and staff. Read more.

The first of four workshops for Project 351 students was held this month. Many students from all of our schools participated in multiple activities as outlined by the Project 351 Playbook. Read more.

We are pleased to announce that in the coming weeks we will launch ORRconnect! This mobile app will allow families to receive targeted, real-time updates right at their fingertips regarding school happenings. ORRconnect is currently under development and more information will be shared with our school community soon.

In recent weeks, school committee members heard updates from Project 351 students and a DECA presentation related to upcoming events. Additionally, they approved student handbook revisions, donations, and reviewed the New England Association of Schools and Colleges letter to continue the Old Rochester Regional High School's accreditation. Recently, the High School's Community Service Learning Club collected 382 pairs of socks that were donated to the Women's Center in New Bedford. A Veterans Drive is happening now. Read more.
