Fall Parent Teacher Conferences
Dear Parents:
The Board of Education of the Simi Valley Unified School District values the partnership with parents in the education of children. The District provides opportunities for parent-teacher communications throughout the school year. One of these opportunities is a parent-teacher conference held at the end of the first quarter of the school year to discuss the progress of all of our elementary students. We invite parents to meet with their child’s teacher to celebrate the academic progress that is taking place in the classroom as well as to make plans for how we can work together to foster even more student progress and success.
Parents are a child’s first and most influential teacher. The majority of your child’s time is spent with you, the parent. That is why it is so important for you to be an active part of our children’s learning process by providing both input and support throughout your child’s education. Ideally, students, parents and the teacher form a learning team. Conferences create an opportunity for members of the team to meet together for the purpose of enhancing your child’s progress.
The following minimum days have been set aside for conferences at Madera:
Conference Days: October 22nd-October 29th
School Dismissed at: 12:55 PM
Please sign up for a conference time for you to meet with the teacher.
If you have not signed up for a conference by October 11th, a time slot will be chosen for you.

For answers to these questions and more, please review the following Madera Handbook information for important information about attendance, procedures, policies, school safety, and discipline. Please click the button below to access the handbook.
Safety First-Parking Lot Expectations!
1. Allow enough time to safely drop off and pick up, the parking lot is no place to hurry!
2. Always Cross ONLY at a crosswalk
3. If you park under the solar panels, proceed up the center of the panels to the cross walk at top of the parking lot.
4. Do not cross between cars or cross the parking lot
5. Be a good model by always walking the extra steps to the cross walks.
6. Pull as far up as you can before releasing your child from the car.
7. Children should only exit the car once you have reached the red curb (at the corner of the C building)
8. Your child should always exit from the passenger side of the vehicle when in the two drop off lanes.
9. NO parking in the yellow zone in front of TK. This is for loading and unloading our TK and K students only. Please do not leave your car in this zone.
10. Only your child should exit the car in the two drop off lanes. They should have all their materials prior to exiting the car. If you must access a backpack or something from your trunk, please park in a designated spot and have your child walk into campus at the cross walk.
Thank you in advance for following these safety guidelines. It helps us keep our traffic moving efficiently and keeps all our kiddos, families, and staff members safe.
Always bring your ID when coming to school!
Visitor Sign ins-ID required
All Simi Valley Schools use the Raptor Visitor Management System. This system provides visitor accountability, which increases the overall safety of our students and staff. This web-based software provides a sophisticated check-in and check-out system for all visitors coming to our schools and facilities. In addition to providing a data trail of visitors to our sites, this system will provide details of each visit, produce visitor badges, check-in/out all visitors, and electronically search each visitor’s information against national registered sexual offender databases.
If you are volunteering on campus, you still need to complete the volunteer form in advance. Please allow time for signing in with the system on your visits to campus. Please remember your ID at all times.
To speed up the process for school events, please visit the school office at your earliest convenience and pre-register your ID.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support to enhance our school safety protocols for the SVUSD. We will always prioritize the well-being and safety of our students, families and staff.
Inclement Weather
Please be mindful of the weather conditions each day and make sure your child is prepared, with sunscreen application before school. Sunscreen, hydration, and weather appropriate clothing are a must for recess periods.
