As we near the end of another incredible school year, PTO wants to ensure classrooms are fully stocked and ready for success when we return! We are organizing a school supply drive to gather essential classroom items for our wonderful GKES teachers. To streamline the process, we asked teachers for their specific needs and created a SignUp Genius at the link below.

End of Year Library/Tech Resources Information
Friday, May 17th, was the last day for students to check out an independent library book from the GKES library for SY 2023-24. Therefore, students and parents will start to receive emails more frequently about what is checked out and overdue on students' Destiny accounts leading up to the last day of school on Friday, June 7th. Destiny notices will also include all fines for lost/missing books and technology repairs.
Library Books
Please ensure that your student has returned all library books by Friday, June 7th. Anything not returned by that date will be marked as a LOST book and a fine notice will be emailed. This will impact their ability to check out books next school year.
Technology Repair
If you have a question about a technology repair fine, please email helpdesk@smcps.org. If you have received a fine notice and wish to appeal the fine, please click on the following SMCPS Tech Repair Appeal Form to explain the circumstances.
School Laptops & Chargers
All laptops and chargers will remain at GKES for updates over the summer. Only 5th grade students moving to middle school, students knowingly moving to a different SMCPS school, or those requested by parents for summer use will be sent home. If you wish for your child to bring their device home over the summer, please contact the homeroom teacher before Friday, June 7th. All classroom teachers will complete a laptop/charger inventory when collecting items for accountability. Families are accountable if devices are taken home.
Helpful guidelines if taking devices home:
Keep your laptop in a secure place. You are responsible if a device or charger is stolen or lost.
Laptops and chargers are expected back on the first day of SY 2024-2025.
If you need help with your device please submit a helpdesk ticket using these directions.
A school laptop costs $350.00 to replace and charger replacements are $40.00.
Laptops are formatted 1:1, so only the student who the laptop is assigned to may log in. Other users will throw off testing programs causing the device to need to be wiped and reformatted before students can access necessary programs. The installation of gaming apps is not permitted either.
