The Gator Gazette

Gator Greetings
We had a special visit from State Representative Ed Delaney this week. Representative Delaney is on the Education Committee at the Indiana State House and is a strong advocate for public education. He came to visit Allisonville to see some of the amazing teaching and learning that happens at our school. He specifically visited in the morning so he could see morning meetings and how we start our day by welcoming each other during community meeting and preparing our brains and bodies for learning. Representative Delany ended his visit with some Q & A time. He will take the information he learned back to his colleagues at the Statehouse.
We had six teachers awarded grants from the Washington Township Schools Foundation this fall. The grants are for creative projects to use in the classroom such as STEM bins, an indoor garden, school musical supplies, leveled literacy resources, professional development for teachers and more. Check out this awesome video of a Mission Minute- Robot Grant that Mr. Auslander was awarded by the Foundation. The WTS Foundation Bash is set for Saturday, November 5th and you can register online for tickets or silent auction items. All proceeds will go back to WTS Foundation to benefit our schools through classroom and teacher grants.
Families with students in Grades 2-5 should mark your calendars for VIP Day on Friday, November 11th. This is a fun day at Allisonville when we celebrate VIP’s or special people in the lives of our students. VIP’s can arrive at the times listed in the Gazette to head straight to the classroom to pick up their student and then rotate through several interactive stations that our PTO volunteers have put together. If you are interested in volunteering at VIP Day, please email allisonvillepto@gmail.com. Veterans Day is also on November 11th, and we will be celebrating it with a musical performance by our 3rd Graders in the morning. Students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue that day and families can submit information about a Veteran for the school-wide slide show.
Just a reminder that we do not celebrate Halloween at school. Teachers have been doing many fun pumpkin and fall-themed activities and will continue to do this on Monday, but students should not wear their Halloween costume to school.
Congratulations to the Amistad Pack for being awarded Pack of the Month for earning the most Gator Golds in October. We had a fun Gator Gathering this afternoon to celebrate our successes and play a game within our Gator Packs. It was a great way to end the week!

There will be activities throughout the building for students and VIPs to enjoy together. Each grade level will have 50 minutes.
Veterans Day
November 11th is also Veterans Day. All students (and attendees) are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue. At Allisonville, we recognize our Veterans and honor them for their service. Students have been learning about Veterans Day and families are encouraged to submit a photo and information of a veteran family member (either currently serving or served in the past) to Mrs. Weiger by email at pweiger@msdwt.k12.in.us with VETERANS DAY in the subject line.
Students in 3rd Grade have been working on a musical program for Veterans Day which will be performed live for the VIPs before the 3rd Grade time slot on Friday.
Thanks to our PTO for making VIP Day possible at Allisonville. Volunteers are needed for this wonderful event and can sign up here
